Real-time monitoring by interferometric light microscopy of phage suspensions for personalised phage therapy.

Phage therapy uses viruses (phages) against antibiotic resistance. Tailoring treatments to specific patient strains requires stocks of various highly concentrated purified phages. It, therefore, faces challenges: titration duration and specificity to a phage/bacteria couple; purification affecting stability; and highly concentrated suspensions tending to aggregate.

Background: Antibiotic resistance is an escalating global health issue, with particularly severe implications in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) such as Nigeria. This study examines antibiotic-resistant bacteria's prevalence and molecular characteristics in daycare centres in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, where high antibiotic use and limited infection control measures present significant challenges.

Methods: Between November 2017 and July 2019, samples were collected from 20 daycare centres, including swabs from fomites and children.

Since the era of the widespread introduction of antibiotics into the human sphere of activity, the problem of antimicrobial resistance has become an urgent and very important topic around the world. Recently, coagulasonegative staphylococci (CoNS), which are representatives of opportunistic microorganisms of the microbiome of the skin and mucous membranes of healthy people, have made a certain contribution to its progression. For a long time, they did not pose a threat to patients, but in recent decades among microorganisms they have been seeded in more than two-thirds of patients with postoperative mediastinitis, catheter-associated infections, as well as from wounds of the neck vessels and the inguinal region separated by pacemaker beds.

This study aimed to investigate the incidence of subclinical mastitis (SCM), the implicated pathogens, and their impact on milk quality in dairy sheep in Greece. Furthermore, we preliminarily evaluated infrared thermography and the application of AI tools for the early, non-invasive diagnosis of relevant cases. In total, 660 milk samples and over 2000 infrared thermography images were obtained from 330 phenotypically healthy ewes.

: Preventing postoperative infection and promoting patient safety are essential responsibilities of the operating room nurse. In some hospitals, splash basins are used to rinse instruments during surgery, although previous studies emphasise the risk of bacterial contamination. A recent systematic review calls for further investigation into surgical teams' use of splash basins.
