We have explored two divinylbenzene cross-linked polystyrene supports for use in a solid-supported N-terminal peptide tagging strategy. Resin-bound tags designed to be cleaved in a single step at the N-terminus of peptides have been devised and explored as peptide N-terminal tagging reagents (constructs) for subsequent mass spectrometric analysis. While the brominated tagging approach shows promise, the use of these specific solid supports has drawbacks, in terms of tagging reaction scale, for real applications in proteomics.

The multi-enzyme assembly system demonstrates remarkable potential in enhancing both intracellular and extracellular enzyme catalysis. In this study, we employed a novel icosahedral protein cage, Mi3, as a protein scaffold and combined it with an ester bond-based peptide tagging system, ReverseTag/ReverseCatcher, to improve the enzymatic catalytic efficiency both in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, we fused ReverseTag to the N-terminal of exo-inulinase (EXINU) from Pseudomonas mucidolens, yielding ReverseTag-EXINU, which effectively bound to the surface of the ReverseCatcher-Mi3 protein cage.

Marine mammal populations, particularly the common dolphin Delphinus delphis in the North-East Atlantic, play an essential role as indicators of ecosystem health. Effective monitoring of these populations is essential for assessing anthropogenic impacts, especially in the context of current threats such as fisheries bycatch. The MOTHY drift model, initially designed for oil spills and then adapted to carcass drift, is being used in part of the North East Atlantic (Bay of Biscay, English Chanel, and North Sea) to estimate the bycatch mortality of common dolphins.

Ionic liquids have been utilized in numerous significant applications within the field of chemistry, particularly in organic chemistry, due to their unique physical and chemical properties. In the realm of asymmetric transition-metal-catalyzed transformations, chiral ionic-liquid-supported ligands and their corresponding transition-metal complexes have facilitated these processes in unconventional solvents, especially ionic liquids and water. These innovative reaction systems enable the recycling of transition-metal catalysts while producing optically active organic molecules with comparable or even higher levels of chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectivity compared to their parent catalysts.

Furan-functionalized peptides are of significant pharmacological interest due to their pronounced bioactivities and unique potential for orthogonal bioconjugation and derivatization. However, naturally occurring peptides with furyl side chains are exceedingly rare. This study presents a streamlined method to predict and assess the microbial production of peptides incorporating 3-furylalanine (Fua) moieties.
