Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether slow injection of diluted rocuronium could reduce rocuronium-induced withdrawal movements effectively in children.
Methods: After loss of consciousness, rocuronium 0.6 mg/kg was administered into 171 children according to the pre-assigned groups as follows: Group CF, injection of non-diluted rocuronium over 5 seconds; Group CS, injection of non-diluted rocuronium over 1 minute; Group DF, injection of diluted rocuronium (10 times) over 5 seconds; Group DS, injection of diluted rocuronium over 1 minute. An investigator who was blind to the injection techniques recorded patient movements followed by rocuronium injection.
Results: The incidence of withdrawal movement in Group CF was highest among the groups (all P < 0.0001). Moreover, withdrawal movement was less frequently observed in Group DS than in Groups CS and DF (P = 0.021 and P = 0.007, respectively).
Conclusions: Slow injection of diluted rocuronium reduced the incidence of withdrawal movements in children.

Background: Intravenous administration of sufentanil during anesthesia induction induces cough (SIC), sometimes triggers a severe reaction. We wanted to investigate the inhibitory effect of low-dose esketamine on cough induced by sufentanil during the induction of general anesthesia, as well as its postoperative impact on mental status (MMSE score, RSS, and VAS-A).
Methods: A total of 256 adult patients were randomly allocated to receive either esketamine (Group EK) or normal saline (Group C).
Background: Foreign body (coins, magnets, button batteries, and metallic foreign bodies) ingestion is common and causes significant morbidity and mortality in children aged six months to three years. Endoscopic removal of swallowed foreign substances is widely accepted, but sedation and general anesthesia may be required to alleviate pain and anxiety during the procedure. Dexmedetomidine is used as a sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, and analgesic.

Many patients with underlying medical conditions are treated with local anesthetics in dental clinics. Dental local anesthetic cartridges contain the vasoconstrictor adrenaline, which can affect the cardiovascular system. For this reason, the adrenaline in the cartridge (2% lidocaine + 1:80,000 adrenaline) is sometimes diluted in order to avoid hemodynamic changes in these patients.
