The complete dinuclear mol-ecule of the title complex, [Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)], is generated by a centre of inversion. The Cu(II) atoms are connected [Cu-Cu = 2.6329 (16) Å] and bridged by four acetate ligands. The distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry is completed by a terminal pyridine N atom. The amine H atom forms an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

The title compound, [Cu(CHNO)(CHNO)]·(CHNO), is a binuclear copper(II) complex located on an inversion center midway between the two copper(II) cations. The asymmetric unit consists of one Cu cation, two 3-nitro-benzoato ligands, and two di-methyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules, one of which coordinates to the Cu cation and one is a solvate mol-ecule. The carboxyl-ate groups of the ligands bridge two Cu cations with a Cu-Cu distance of 2.

A new copper(II) coordination polymer containing chains of interconnected paddle-wheel antiferromagnetic clusters.

Acta Crystallogr C Struct Chem

December 2017

Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg, UMR7504 CNRS-UNISTRA and NIE, 23 rue du Loess, BP 43, 67034 Strasbourg Cedex 2, France.

The construction of supramolecular architectures based on inorganic-organic coordination frameworks with weak noncovalent interactions has implications for the rational design of functional materials. A new crystalline binuclear copper(II) one-dimensional polymeric chain, namely catena-poly[[[tetrakis(μ-4-azaniumylbutanoato-κO:O')dicopper(II)(Cu-Cu)]-μ-chlorido-[diaquadichloridocopper(II)]-μ-chlorido] bis(perchlorate)], {[CuCl(CHNO)(HO)](ClO)}, was obtained by the reaction of 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA) with CuCl·2HO in aqueous solution. The structure was established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and was also characterized by IR spectroscopy and magnetic measurements.

Article Synopsis
  • The study presents several new complexes and coordination polymers derived from 15-metallacrown-5 structures that incorporate lanthanide (Ln) and copper (Cu) ions with glycinehydroxamate (GlyHA) and m-phthalate (m-bdc) ligands.
  • Compounds 1 and 3 feature unique quadruple-decker metallacrown assemblies, while compounds 2 and 4 form one-dimensional coordination polymers with solvent-filled crystal lattices.
  • The absorption studies reveal that desolvated compound 4 can uptake methanol and ethanol vapors, and the analysis of magnetic properties shows significant exchange interactions between the metal ions in these complexes.

December 2011

Department of Chemistry, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY 40292, USA.

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(4)(C(10)H(14)N(2)O)(2)], reveals a dinuclear Cu(II) complex located about a center of inversion. The coordination environment of each Cu(II) cation is distorted octa-hedral, composed of four bridging acetate ligands, an apical pyridine donor and is completed by a Cu-Cu bond. The amide H atom forms intra-molecular hydrogen bonds to two carboxyl O atoms.
