Since the beginning of the Mars planet exploration, the characterization of carbon dioxide hypersonic flows to simulate a spaceship's Mars atmosphere entry conditions has been an important issue. We have developed a Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectrometer with a new room-temperature operating antimony-based distributed feedback laser (DFB) diode laser to characterize the velocity, the temperature and the density of such flows. This instrument has been tested during two measurement campaigns in a free piston tunnel cold hypersonic facility and in a high enthalpy arc jet wind tunnel. These tests also demonstrate the feasibility of mid-infrared fiber optics coupling of the spectrometer to a wind tunnel for integrated or local flow characterization with an optical probe placed in the flow.

Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL) are promising semiconductor lasers, compact and powerful, but of complex design. Availability of structured data of the QCL properties can support data mining activities that seek to understand the relationship between these properties, for instance between the design and performance features. The main open source of QCL data is in scientific text which in most cases is usually unstructured.

The Endolift® technique, introduced in 2005, gained popularity among medical and non-medical professionals as a non-surgical approach using subdermal laser devices. However, its widespread adoption lacked a thorough understanding of its physiological interaction, resulting in controversies over its effectiveness and safety. This study aimed to assess the evidence of Endolift® efficacy, parametrization, and safety by analyzing adverse events.

Non-linearities in organic exciton-polariton microcavities represent an attractive platform for quantum devices. However, progress in this area hinges on the development of material platforms for high-performance polariton lasing, scalable and sustainable fabrication, and ultimately strategies for electrical pumping. Here, we show how introducing Schlieren texturing and a rough intra-cavity topography in a liquid crystalline conjugated polymer enables strong in-plane confinement of polaritons and drastic enhancement of the lasing properties.

A 84-year old man who has a history of refractory Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) was treated with ALA-PDT combined with the dual 980-nm/1470-nm diode laser for 6 times every other week. Satisfactory result was noted without any unbearable adverse effects. The combination of the dual 980nm/1470nm diode laser and ALA-PDT may be an ideal strategy in treating local KS with good tolerance, especially in elder patients who can not tolerate radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Purpose: RVVC is defined as four or more episodes of candidiasis in a 12-month period. Conventional treatment is complex and often involves long-term medication use or multiple treatments. ABL therapy is a promising treatment option as it is acceptable to women and has only rare side effects.
