scRNA + BCR-seq identifies proportions and characteristics of dual BCR B cells in the peritoneal cavity of mice and peripheral blood of healthy human donors across different ages.

Immun Ageing

December 2024

Department of Immunology, Center of Immuno-molecular Engineering, Innovation & Practice Base for Graduate Students Education, Zunyi Medical University, Zunyi, China.

The increased incidence of inflammatory diseases, infectious diseases, autoimmune disorders, and tumors in elderly individuals is closely associated with several well-established features of immunosenescence, including reduced B cell genesis and dampened immune responses. Recent studies have highlighted the critical role of dual receptor lymphocytes in tumors and autoimmune diseases. This study utilized shared data generated through scRNA-seq + scBCR-seq technology to investigate the presence of dual receptor-expressing B cells in the peritoneum of mouse and peripheral blood of healthy volunteers, and whether there are age-related differences in dual receptor B cell populations.

Liver cirrhosis is a common cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Excessive alcohol consumption and metabolic associated steatotic liver disease are the most common etiological factors of cirrhosis in our region. Cirrhosis occurs in two well-differentiated phases, compensated and decompensated, depending on the absence or presence of complications, respectively.

NAC (NAM, ATAF1/2 and CUC2) is a transcription factor which contributes to the response for both biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, the regulatory effects and potential mechanisms of SNAC4/9 on resistance to Botrytis cinerea (B. cinerea) were investigated by the differences in physiological and biochemical indices as well as transcriptional and metabolic profiles between SNAC4/9 overexpressed (OE-SNAC4/9) and wild-type (WT) tomato fruit inoculated with B.

Youth's social status (popularity and likability) relates with social status goals as well as bullying and prosocial behaviors within the context of classroom norms for bullying and prosocial behaviors, but less clear is how each of these factors interrelates with each other. The current study empirically analyses the concurrent relationships among social status goals, bullying and prosocial behaviors, and classroom norms with social status. Participants were a nationally representative sample of 6,421 Slovenian early adolescents (50% females; M = 13 years; SD = 6 months).

Beyond platelet production: Megakaryocytes' emerging roles in immunity and infection.

Malays J Pathol

December 2024

University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Cheras 43000 Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia.

Conventionally, megakaryocytes (MKs) are regarded as platelet-producing cells and their platelet-related functions in haemostasis have been well documented. However, it is increasingly evident that MKs have functions beyond platelet production. Convincing findings suggest that MKs are active participants in immunity and infections.
