Potentially bioactive fluorine-containing glasses of formula 46.2SiO(2)·24.3Na(2)O·(26.9-x)CaO·2.6P(2)O(5)·xCaF(2) [x = (0), 5, 10, 15] have been studied: the study was carried out as a function of fluorine percentage, dimensions and time of soaking in SBF. The results are compared to those obtained in the same conditions for Bioglass(®) 45S5. Due to the high number and different kind of variables/conditions explored by this set of data, the results are rationalized for the first time by means of multivariate data analysis (MDA); in this way it is possible to classify the behaviour of bioglasses toward bioactivity. The presence of fluorine does not inhibit the formation of HA; in particular, for a fast bioactivity (in term of HA crystallization) it will be better to have large particle size or slabs, while for a fast dissolution fine particle sizes should be preferred.

Aim: Thyroid nodules, based on high-resolution ultrasonography (HRUS), are among the most common endocrine abnormalities that affect the general population because of their high estimated prevalence rates. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a safe, cost-effective modality to differentiate between benign and malignant thyroid nodules based on the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (BSRTC), thus avoiding unnecessary surgery. However, categories III and IV of BSRTC remain a controversial issue in clinical practice, encompassing a wide range of risks of malignancy.

Objective: To investigate the optimal cut-off value of immunohistochemical marker Ki67 as a prognostic factor to predict the recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder urothelial carcinoma (NMIBUC).
Methods: A total of 331 patients diagnosed with NMIBUC who underwent surgery in the Yongchuan Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2012 to January 2020 were finally included in this study. The optimal cut-off value of Ki67 for predicting recurrence of NMIBUC was calculated by ROC curve and Youden index.

Background: Difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (D2T RA) refers to a subset of patients who fail to achieve adequate disease control after the use of two or more biological or targeted synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (b/tsDMARDs) with different mechanisms of action, while maintaining active inflammatory disease. This presents a therapeutic challenge and highlights the need to explore contributing factors such as the potential role of the gut microbiota. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the gut microbiota and inflammation in patients with D2T RA in comparison to patients with easy-to-treat RA (E2T RA).

Background: Orthohantaviruses (also known as hantaviruses) are pathogens, primarily transmitted by rodents, that can cause hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). In endemic regions of Kazakhstan, no confirmed HFRS cases were detected between 2020 and 2022 raising concerns about detection. Estimate antibody seroprevalence for hantaviruses and identify associated risk factors among high-risk adults in western Kazakhstan in 2023.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to study the therapeutic maintenance of tumour necrosis factor α inhibitors (TNFα-I) for spondyloarthritis patients enrolled in the Moroccan biotherapy registry and to analyse the reason and the predictive factors of stopping TNFα-I.
Methods: Data were collected from a historical-prospective multicentre registry of adult patients with spondyloarthritis, treated with biological treatment, in the 10 rheumatology departments in Morocco. Maintenance was defined as the interval between the introduction and the suspension of the same TNFα-I.
