The measurement of trace analytes in aqueous systems has become increasingly important for understanding ocean primary productivity. In oceanography, iron (Fe) is a key element in regulating ocean productivity, microplankton assemblages and has been identified as a causative element in the development of some harmful algal blooms. The chemosenor developed in this study is based on an indicator displacement approach that utilizes time-resolved fluorescence and fluorescence resonance energy transfer as the sensing mechanism to achieve detection of Fe3+ ions as low as 5 nM. This novel approach holds promise for the development of photoactive chemosensors for ocean deployment.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), a fundamental biomacromolecule in living organisms, serves as the carrier of genetic information. Beyond its role in encoding biological functions, DNA's inherent ability to hybridize through base pairing has opened new avenues for its application in biological sciences. This review introduces DNA nanotechnology and DNA-encoded library (DEL), and highlights their shared design principles related to DNA assembly.

The impact of interlayer shear stress on the distribution of earth pressure in cohesive soil is notable, but currently, there lacks a comprehensive theory that integrates this factor in the calculation of active earth pressure. Drawing from the Mohr stress circle specific to clay soils, a formula to calculate interlayer shear stress has been derived. Moreover, a robust model has been formulated to compute the active earth pressure in clay soils, incorporating elements such as interlayer shear stress, effects of displacement, soil arching, and the morphology of the sliding surface.

Our ability to balance upright provides a stable platform to perform daily activities. Balance deficits associated with various clinical conditions may affect activities of daily living, highlighting the importance of quantifying standing balance in ecological environments. Although typically performed in laboratory settings, the growing availability of low-cost inertial measurement units (IMUs) allows the assessment of balance in the real world.

Background And Purpose: The optimal approach to the hip joint in patients with displaced femoral neck fractures (dFNF) receiving a total hip arthroplasty (THA) remains controversial. We compared the direct lateral approach (DLA) with the direct anterior approach (DAA) primarily on Timed Up and Go (TUG), and secondarily on the Forgotten Joint Score (FJS), the Oxford Hip Score (OHS), EQ5D-5L, and the EQ5D-VAS.
Methods: Between 2018 and 2023, we conducted a randomized controlled trial including elderly patients with dFNFs treated with THA.

Traumatic optic neuropathy (TON) is a rare condition resulting from damage to the optic nerve due to craniofacial trauma. It can present as direct or indirect injuries, with mechanisms ranging from mechanical disruption by fractures in direct TON to transmitted forces causing shearing and ischemia in indirect TON. These injuries often lead to significant visual impairment or complete vision loss, requiring timely diagnosis and intervention.
