Article Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to present a series of 46 cases of ameloblastoma-38 in mandible and 8 in maxilla treated in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur during 1997-2006 with emphasis on various treatment modalities used in treating different types of ameloblastoma and how to define the safe margin for different clinical and histopathological types of ameloblastoma with their follow-up.

Method: Confirmation of lesion done by incisional biopsy upon which treatment plan was decided and if resection is done then section was studied for amount of infiltration in adjoining bone histopathologically.

Result: In a follow-up period of 1-9 years recurrence was observed in six cases, two in patients treated with enucleation and curettage, three in patients treated with segmental resection and one in patient with peripheral ameloblastoma treated with soft tissue resection.

Conclusion: From this study we conclude that depending upon the histopathological type different amount of adjoining bone is resected to get the safe margin and based upon the result it is recommended to remain a bit aggressive in maxillary lesions.

Pulmonary metastasis of ameloblastoma is a rare associated with the histopathologically plexiform types of ameloblastoma. In this report, we present an exceptionally rare case of pulmonary metastatic ameloblastoma without local recurrence, emerging 12 years post-initial resection. A female patient, initially diagnosed with mandibular desmoplastic ameloblastoma, revealed masses in both lung fields of the lung on chest radiography, while chest computed tomography revealed more than 10 nodules in both lungs.

Odontogenic cysts and tumors exhibit a broad spectrum of biological characteristics. Despite recent advances in understanding the complex nature of these lesions, relatively less is known about the molecular markers involved in key pathogenic steps, such as proliferation and differentiation. This study aimed to elucidate the expression patterns of p63 and Ki-67 in odontogenic lesions, which may influence the management strategies.

Ameloblastoma, One of the most Common and Frequently Encountered Odontogenic Epithelial Derived Tumours of the oral Cavity, are Reported to be Represented by Variable Number of Clinical, Radiological and Histological Types. Also, this Lesion has been Observed to be most Aggressive and has a Tendency to Recur in most Circumstances. The Histological Variants of Solid type of Ameloblastoma have also been Observed to Occur either in Isolation or in Combination with One or the Other Lesions.

CrossViT with ECAP: Enhanced deep learning for jaw lesion classification.

Background: Radiolucent jaw lesions like ameloblastoma (AM), dentigerous cyst (DC), odontogenic keratocyst (OKC), and radicular cyst (RC) often share similar characteristics, making diagnosis challenging. In 2021, CrossViT, a novel deep learning approach using multi-scale vision transformers (ViT) with cross-attention, emerged for accurate image classification. Additionally, we introduced Extended Cropping and Padding (ECAP), a method to expand training data by iteratively cropping smaller images while preserving context.
