We retrospectively reviewed 13 patients who had successfully undergone three-ligament tenodesis for scapholunate instability, and compared the radiological outcome with 14 failed cases. The scapholunate angle in the failed group increased from 73 degrees to 81 degrees with a scapholunate gap of 532 mm, compared to a decrease in the successful group from 76 degrees to 66 degrees with a scapholunate gap of 2.94 mm. Postoperative radiographs may thus have a prognostic value and can also be used if confronted with a patient with persisting symptoms after operation. Salvage procedures may offer a better solution when tenodesis has failed and reduction is insufficient on radiographs, and we believe that redo operations are not indicated, when the initial reduction already failed.

The objective of this study was to evaluate scaphoid, lunate and capitate kinematics after disruption to the primary and secondary scapholunate ligamentous stabilizers, and to assess the effectiveness of scapholunate ligament reconstruction in restoring carpal kinematics post-operatively. Seven upper extremities were harvested, and the scapholunate interosseous ligament (SLIL) was divided. Specimens were mounted onto a computer-controlled dynamic wrist simulator, and simulations of flexion-extension, radial-ulnar deviation, and dart-thrower's motion were undertaken by simulated force application to the wrist tendons.

There are many techniques for the treatment of chronic scapholunate dissociation. The three-ligament tenodesis (3LT) is used most widely, but reconstruction of the dorsal ligament alone may not provide sufficient stability. The Mark-Henry technique (MHT) compensates for the insufficient stability of 3LT by additional reconstruction of the volar ligament, but the procedure is complex.

Multiple techniques exist to reconstruct the scapholunate interosseous ligament, though none have demonstrated superiority. This study compares 1-year radiographic outcomes of the three-ligament tenodesis and the anatomical front and back reconstruction. All patients who underwent reconstruction of their scapholunate interosseous ligament at one institution with either anatomical front and back reconstruction or three-ligament tenodesis between 2011 and 2020 were retrospectively reviewed.

Purpose: Multiple studies report outcomes after 3-ligament tenodesis (3-LT) in treating traumatic scapholunate interosseous ligament injury (SLIL). However, investigators do not differentiate between patients with partial or complete SLIL injury. The relation between the extent of SLIL disruption and surgical outcomes and if this should be considered when treating a patient with SLIL injury remains unknown.

Introduction: Scapholunate instability frequently leads to chronic pain or even severe osteoarthritis of the wrist. Most favored reconstruction techniques of chronic SL-ligament injuries are based on the usage of a tendon, although there is still a lack of consensus which technique is superior.
Materials And Methods: In a retrospective cohort analysis we compared 9 patients who underwent SL-ligament repair according to Van den Abbeele and 12 patients who underwent modified three ligament tenodesis according to Garcia-Elias, performed at a single institution.
