Pathogens manipulate host physiology through the secretion of virulence factors (effectors) to invade and proliferate on the host. The molecular functions of effectors inside plant hosts have been of interest in the field of molecular plant-microbe interactions. Obligate biotrophic pathogens, such as rusts and powdery mildews, cannot proliferate outside of plant hosts.

Sarcopenic obesity (SO) is a body composition phenotype derived from the simultaneous presence in the same individual of an increase in fat mass and a decrease in skeletal muscle mass and/or function. Several protocols for the diagnosis of SO have been proposed in the last two decades making prevalence and disease risk estimates of SO heterogeneous and challenging to interpret. Dementia is a complex neurological disorder that significantly impacts patients, carers and healthcare systems.

It has been popular and challenging to undertake researches on the delay of acquired resistance of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI). As key cells for tumor initiation, cancer stem cells (CSC) play an important role in the process of resistance to EGFR-TKI. Although preliminary studies found that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) could inhibit CSC properties and delay EGFR-TKI resistance, the specific molecular mechanism remains unclear.

Water infiltration into soil is important in geotechnical engineering. The classical Green-Ampt (GA) infiltration model is widely used in soil infiltration due to its physical significance, but it ignores the actual unsaturated layer in the infiltration process and has some deficiencies. Thus, the present study established a modified GA infiltration model (MLGA model) using Darcy's infiltration law and continuity equation to fully consider the variation characteristics of the soil water profile in the infiltration process.
