Background: Sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) is a leading cause of death for US infants, and nonrecommended sleep practices are reported in most of these deaths. SUID rates have not declined over the past 20 years despite significant educational efforts. Integration of prenatal safe sleep and breastfeeding education into a pregnancy app may be one approach to engaging pregnant individuals in education about infant care practices prior to childbirth.

There is ample research discussing the benefits of a pacifier-activated music system with preterm and high-risk infants. Benefits include improving the quality of nonnutritive sucking (NNS) and increased feeding volume/attempts/endurance, which lead to decreased time to full oral feedings and shortened hospital stays. The use of pacifier-activated music systems supports a faster transition to oral feeding in preterm infants while learning to breastfeed or bottle feed in the NICU.

Objective: To assess the implementation of the "10 Steps for Successful Breastfeeding" and explore associations with any Breastfeeding (BF) and Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) initiation and continuation.

Methods: Implementation of the 10 Steps was assessed based on a consecutive sample of 568 mothers' self-reported experience across all public ( = 5) and 29 (of 35) private maternity clinics using the WHO/UNICEF BFHI questionnaire (Section 4) within the first 24-48 h after birth. BF and EBF were estimated within 48 h after birth as well as at 1st, 4th and 6th month based on a self-reported current status method.

Objectives: This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the frequency of breast refusal (BR), associated factors including postpartum depression and breastfeeding self-efficacy, and investigate the recovery status following BR.

Methods: The survey comprised four sections, to investigate the sociodemographic characteristics of mothers and their babies, Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (BSES-SF), the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) of mothers, and features associated with BR. The survey was administered online to those with babies aged 0-24 months.

Laboratório de Prototipagem Assistiva, Programa de Pós-graduação em Neurociências e Biologia Celular, Instituto de Ciências Biológicas, Universidade Federal do Pará - UFPA - Belém (PA), Brasil.

Purpose: Compare infant suction in babies with and without ankyloglossia using a microprocessor-controlled pressure sensor coupled to a pacifier.

Methods: Fifty-five infants from 0 to 2 months of age underwent clinical examination for ankyloglossia, after which they were offered a silicone pacifier connected to the pressure acquisitiondevice and suction activity was recorded. Thus, we extracted the frequency of sucks within a burst, the average suck duration, the burst duration, the number of sucks per burst, the maximum amplitude of sucks per burst and the inter-burst interval.
