A multicomponent reaction of 3-aminopyrazol-5-ones with substituted salicylic aldehydes and acetylacetic ester leading to the formation of novel 2,3-dihydrochromeno[4,3-d]pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-1,6-diones was discovered. The elucidation of the reaction scope revealed that 5-aminopyrazoles, 3-amino-1,2,4-triazoles and 6-aminouracil could be used as the heterocyclic amine component. Selected heterocyclic products were found to possess notable antibacterial activities.

-CFBnSeCFBr was developed as a bromodifluoromethylselenonating reagent, which was utilized by combining with CPBA and TfO for the synthesis of 4-(bromodifluoromethylseleno) isocoumarins via the selenolation/lactonization of 2-alkynylbenzoates. The transformation was postulated to proceed via a multicomponent reagents system-enabled sequence involving the oxidation of -CFBnSeCFBr by CPBA into its selenium sulfoxide, activation of the generated sulfoxide by TfO into the electrophilic -CFBnSeOCFBr salt, and selenolation/lactonization of 2-alkynylbenzoates by the reactive electrophilic species into 4-(bromodifluoromethylseleno) isocoumarins.

There is a growing need for sustainable, efficient methods to promote plant growth and protect crops, with plant extracts offering natural, multi-component solutions. Based on previous observations, , , and were selected from 17 water extracts to investigate how the application times of soil sprays affect the antioxidant enzymes and secondary metabolites in fruity and leafy vegetables at different growth stages. From 1 week after sowing (WAS) to 4 WAS, all applications increased the shoot fresh weight by 42-69% in cucumbers, 40-64% in tomatoes, 46-65% in kale and 42-63% in lettuce.
