Background: Developing nations carry a substantial portion of the global burden of injury, but without reliable injury surveillance, there is no way to characterize or prioritize the causes of work-related injury for prevention.

Methods: Injury data from 52 treatment sites in the Xuan Tien Commune, Vietnam with over 10,000 inhabitants were collected between January 1 and December 31, 2006. Injured residents were interviewed to determine work-relatedness, relevant causes, disability, and burden.

Results: Five hundred four work-related injuries were reported from formal treatment sites (incidence rate of 87 per 1,000 FTE) with a mean lost work day of 11 days. Four thousand five hundred seventy-four lost work day equivalents were estimated based on actual days lost to recover plus work days lost earning income to pay for medical costs, accumulating a total direct burden to the community of 8,641 lost work day equivalents. Almost half of that burden was caused by work in manufacturing. First aid boxes placed in 40 manufacturing enterprises yielded the 2nd highest reporting source.

Conclusion: This study demonstrated the feasibility and value at the local level to build an active injury surveillance system which could have a large impact on preventing the burden of injuries in workplaces in Vietnam.

Introduction: Intestinal lymphoma may be latent in some dogs with chronic inflammatory enteropathy. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have potential therapeutic applications for refractory chronic inflammatory enteropathy, but their impact on the development of potential intestinal lymphomas has not yet been evaluated. Therefore, this study was performed to investigate the effect of canine adipose-derived MSCs (cADSCs) on the growth of canine lymphoma cell lines to assess the safety of MSC-based therapy in terms of pro- and anti-tumorigenic effects.

Introduction The association of acute pancreatitis with adverse obstetric outcomes remains subject to great controversy. Outcomes are affected by the standard of care available, and hence, will be better in developed countries than in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the clinical characteristics and treatment of acute pancreatitis in pregnancy (APIP) and its associated maternal and neonatal outcomes in a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan.

Objectives: This study used the Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) to quantify the long-term trends for four cancers (oral cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer) that have undergone cancer screening in Taiwan.

Methods: DALYs were calculated as the sum of Years of Life Lost (YLL) due to premature mortality and Years Lived with Disability (YLD). YLLs were determined using cancer-specific mortality data from the Health Promotion Administration (HPA), Ministry of Health and Welfare, based on age-specific life expectancy.

Objectives: To compare the adaptation of maxillary removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks fabricated through direct digital workflows with that of traditional cast frameworks and indirect digital frameworks.

Methods: The workflow for fabricating the digital cobalt-chromium framework encompassed intraoral scanning (IOS) using Trios 3, computer-aided survey and design, and subsequently either the lost-wax technique from a printed resin framework pattern (Framework B) or direct selective laser melting (SLM) (Framework C). The traditional cast framework (Framework A) was selected as a control.
