In this chapter we describe the application of CW and pulsed EPR methods for the investigation of structural and dynamical properties of RNA and DNA molecules and their interaction with small molecules and proteins. Special emphasis will be given to recent applications of dipolar spectroscopy on nucleic acids.

Pulmovermis cyanovitellosus Coil and Kuntz, 1960 is a species of hemiurid trematode that localizes in the lung of sea snakes, an unusual trait for this group of parasites. Recent molecular phylogenetic studies based on 28S rRNA gene sequences have shown that this species is closely related to members of the genus Lecithochirium Lühe, 1901. This finding is unexpected given that Pulmovermis Coil and Kuntz, 1960 and Lecithochirium are currently classified in different subfamilies of Hemiuridae (Pulmoverminae Sandars, 1961 vs.

Biomolecular condensates, also referred to as membrane-less organelles, function as fundamental organizational units within cells. These structures primarily form through liquid-liquid phase separation, a process in which proteins and nucleic acids segregate from the surrounding milieu to assemble into micron-scale structures. By concentrating functionally related proteins and nucleic acids, these biomolecular condensates regulate a myriad of essential cellular processes.

Proteins are indispensable for maintaining a healthy diet and performing crucial functions in a multitude of physiological processes. The growth of the global population and the emergence of environmental concerns have significantly increased the demand for protein-rich foods such as meat and dairy products, exerting considerable pressure on global food supplies. Single-cell proteins (SCP) have emerged as a promising alternative source, characterized by their high protein content and essential amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, inorganic salts, vitamins, and trace elements.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a type of hemorrhagic stroke with high morbidity, mortality and disability, and early brain injury (EBI) after SAH is crucial for prognosis. Recently, stem cell therapy has garnered significant attention in the treatment of neurological diseases. Compared to other stem cells, dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) possess several advantages, including abundant sources, absence of ethical concerns, non-invasive procurement, non-tumorigenic history and neuroprotective potential.

Bladder cancer (BC) is a major global health issue with a high recurrence rate and limited effective treatments. Over the past few years, it has become evident that miRNAs play a role in the carcinogenesis process, particularly in regulating genes that promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. This review focuses on the extent to which natural products can act as potential miRNA modulators for the management of bladder cancer.
