Radiotherapy allows locoregional control with systemic impact in some indications. Technologic advances decrease the dose received by normal tissues leading to a low crude number of late side effects near to 5%. Intrinsic radiosensitivity are still of interest in this context of high level of technology and optimized treatments. Assays of radiosensitivity are detailed in this article arguing the negative results but also the perspectives.

In abdominal X-ray examinations, radiosensitive organs such as the gonads within or near the imaging region are at risk of radiation exposure. Minimizing the dose to these organs is crucial to reducing unnecessary radiation. This study utilized optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters (OSLDs) to measure the radiation dose to the male gonads at varying kilovoltage peak (kVp) settings while keeping the milliampere-seconds (mAs) constant across different radiographic projections.

Objectives: To determine if piecemeal separation surgery, in conjunction with smaller treatment volumes utilized with spine stereotactic radiation therapy (S-SBRT), increased the risk of adjacent level progression (ALP).
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database of adult spine oncologic patients who underwent SBRT to the spine at University of Michigan from 2010 to 2021. We compared ALP in patients undergoing SBRT who had pretreatment surgery with those who did not.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a malignancy highly prevalent in East and Southeast Asia, is primarily treated with radiotherapy (RT). However, hypoxia-induced radioresistance presents a significant challenge. Nanozymes, nanomaterials with catalase-like activity, have emerged as a promising strategy for radiosensitization by converting elevated hydrogen peroxide in the tumor microenvironment into oxygen.

Human organic cation transporter 2 (hOCT2/SLC22A2) is a key drug transporter that facilitates the transport of endogenous and exogenous organic cations. Because hOCT2 is responsible for the development of adverse effects caused by platinum-based anti-cancer agents, drugs with OCT2 inhibitory effects may serve as prophylactic agents against the toxicity of platinum-based anti-cancer agents. In the present study, we established a machine learning-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model for hOCT2 inhibitors based on the public ChEMBL database and explored novel hOCT2 inhibitors among the FDA-approved drugs.
