Situs inversus partialis (SIP) is an extremely rare congenital disorder in which most of the visceral organs are located on the opposite side of their usual anatomical locations. The condition is usually associated with levocardia, in which the apex of the heart is directed toward the left side. In our case study, a female patient with a history of dysphagia and weight loss presented to the outpatient clinic under the urgent two-week wait pathway.

Aortic dissection (AD) is a medical emergency that occurs as a result of a compromise in the structural integrity of the aorta. If left untreated, AD can have severe consequences such as organ dysfunction or even death. Malperfusion syndrome is a major complication of aortic dissection with mesenteric malperfusion syndrome being a rare but devastating form that can lead to mesenteric ischemia and is associated with poor prognosis despite timely management.

Immediate Use of Impella CP for High-Risk Percutaneous Coronary Intervention After Repair of Thrombosed Aortic Coarctation.

Catheter Cardiovasc Interv

December 2024

Interventional Cardiology Department, Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez, Mexico City, Mexico.

Aortic coarctation represents up to 7% of congenital heart diseases and is associated with hypertension and coronary artery disease, which continues to be the leading cause of death even after successful surgical repair. However, there is limited knowledge of managing both conditions, especially in the setting of an acute coronary syndrome. We herein present the case of a 53-year-old man with a history of hypertension who initially presented with an ST-elevation myocardial infarction successfully treated with thrombolysis and hemodynamic compromise.

Purpose To determine the prevalence of mitral annular disjunction (MAD) in patients undergoing cardiac MRI for various clinical indications and to assess the association of MAD with arrhythmia, mitral valve prolapse (MVP), and myocardial alteration. Materials and Methods This study analyzed data from a retrospective observational registry of consecutive patients undergoing cardiac MRI for different clinical indications. Cardiac MRI examinations were performed from January 2019 to June 2019 at 13 Italian hospitals.
