Background: Brain temperature signifies the thermal homeostasis of the tissue, and may serve as a marker for neuroprotective therapy. Currently, it remains challenging to map the human brain temperature with high spatial resolution. The thermal dependence of chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) effects of endogenous labile protons may provide a promising mechanism for the absolute brain temperature imaging.

Protein kinase C (PKC) signalling has been shown to be dysregulated in various cancers including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). We have previously determined that changes in the expression levels of SLC43A3-encoded equilibrative nucleobase transporter 1 (ENBT1) can significantly alter 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) toxicity in ALL cells. 6-MP is a common drug used in ALL chemotherapy.

Background: The recently identified swine inflammation and necrosis syndrome (SINS) affects tail, ears, teats, coronary bands, claws and heels of affected individuals. The primarily endogenous syndrome is based on vasculitis, thrombosis, and intimal proliferation, involving defence cells, interleukins, chemokines, and acute phase proteins and accompanied by alterations in clinical chemistry, metabolome, and liver transcriptome. The complexity of metabolic alterations and the influence of the boar led to hypothesize a polygenic architecture of SINS.

Weaning in piglets presents significant physiological and immunological challenges, including gut dysbiosis and increased susceptibility to post-weaning diarrhoea (PWD). Abrupt dietary, environmental, and social changes during this period disrupt the intestinal barrier and microbiota, often necessitating antimicrobial use. Sustainable dietary strategies are critical to addressing these issues while reducing reliance on antimicrobials.

Cystoisospora suis, a porcine enteral parasite of the order Coccidia, is characterized by a complex life cycle, with asexual and sexual development in the epithelium of the host gut and an environmental phase as an oocyst. All developmental stages vary greatly in their morphology and function, and therefore excrete different bioactive molecules for intercellular communication. Due to their complex development, we hypothesized that the extracellular vesicles (EVs) cargo is highly dependent on the life cycle stages from which they are released.
