Background: We investigated whether shock wave (SW)-pretreated autologous adipocyte-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) seeded in the cell-sheet scaffold (CSS) could inhibit left ventricular (LV) remodeling and improve LV ejection fraction (LVEF) in old myocardial infarction (MI).

Methods: Mini-pigs (n=20) were divided into group 1 (sham-operated control), group 2 (old MI), group 3 (old MI + autologous ADMSCs/1.0×107 in CSS on LV myocardium), and group 4 [old MI + SW (0.

Uncertainty propagation from probe spacing to Fourier 3-probe straightness measurement.

School of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou 510640, PR China. Electronic address:

Reliable and precise straightness profile measurements are crucial for manufacturing ultra-precision components and are capable of further enhancing their accuracy. The Fourier three-probe (F3P) straightness measurement allows for precise assessment of the workpiece profile on the machine by eliminating the harmful influence of the error motion of the sliding table. However, the probe spacing uncertainty deteriorates the measurement accuracy remarkably; and, the affecting mechanism behind this phenomenon has not yet been studied in detail.

Liquid porosimetry experiments reveal a peculiar trend of the intrusion pressure of water in hydrophobic Cu(3,3',5,5'-tetraethyl-4,4'-bipyrazolate) MOF. At lower temperature (T) range, the intrusion pressure (P) increases with T. For higher T values, P first reaches a maximum and then decreases.

Background And Objective: Cardiovascular disease (CD) is a major global health concern, affecting millions with symptoms like fatigue and chest discomfort. Timely identification is crucial due to its significant contribution to global mortality. In healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI) holds promise for advancing disease risk assessment and treatment outcome prediction.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the most common genetic cardiac disease and is characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy. Although this hypertrophy often associates with sarcomeric gene mutations, nongenetic factors also contribute to the disease, leading to diastolic dysfunction. Notably, this dysfunction manifests before hypertrophy and is linked to hypercontractility, as well as nonuniform contraction and relaxation (myofibril asynchrony) of the myocardium.
