The concentrations of the thyrotrophic hormone (TTH). bound thyroxine (T4), free thyroxine (FT4), and triiodothyronine (T3) were measured by RIA in the blood of 10 test subjects during a 370-day head-down tilt study and a 250-day recovery period after it. The concentrations of TTH, FT4, and T3 decreased during bed rest and did not return to norm during recovery. It can be assumed that during bed rest TTH stimulation of the thyroid gland declines, which can act as an adaptive response to lower physical load.

Background: The erector spinae plane block (ESPB) has been increasingly utilized for postoperative analgesia in thoracic, abdominal, and spinal surgeries. This study evaluated the postoperative analgesic outcomes of ESPB with nalbuphine as a ropivacaine adjuvant for lumbar trauma surgery.
Methods: This randomized double-blind clinical trial included 57 participants who underwent lumbar trauma surgery.

Many biological markers of normal and disease states can be detected in saliva. The benefits of saliva collection for research include being non-invasive, ease of frequent sample collection, saving time, and being cost-effective. A small volume (≈1 mL) of saliva is enough for these analyses that can be collected in just a few minutes.

Neuro-ophthalmological changes have been reported after prolonged exposure to microgravity; however, the pathophysiology remains unclear. Furthermore, several countermeasures have been suggested to counteract the side effects of microgravity. The objectives of the present study were twofold: (1) to assess the neuro-ophthalmological impact of 60 days of head-down bed rest (HDBR) and (2) to determine the potential effects of an antioxidant cocktail.

Hypokinesia triggers oxidative stress and accelerates the turnover of the glutathione system via the γ-glutamyl cycle. Our study aimed to identify the regulatory checkpoints controlling intracellular glutathione levels. We measured the intermediate substrates of the γ-glutamyl cycle in erythrocytes from 19 healthy young male volunteers before and during a 10-day experimental bed rest.

Study Objectives: Actigraphy devices are used in sleep medicine. The Actiwatch 2 (Philips Respironics) was an example of a frequently used device in this field. Nevertheless, the discontinuation of this device has led to an increased necessity for the implementation of other available actigraphy methods capable of providing objective information.
