Background: It has been suggested that dog walking may protect against falls and mobility problems in later life, but little work to date has examined this.The aim of this study was to assess if regular dog walking was associated with reduced likelihood of falls, fear of falling and mobility problems in a large cohort of community-dwelling older people.
Methods: Participants ≥60 years at Wave 5 of The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing were included.

Classical radiation biology as we understand it clearly identifies genomic DNA as the primary target of ionizing radiation. The evidence appears rock-solid: ionizing radiation typically induces DSBs with a yield of ~30 per cell per Gy, and unrepaired DSBs are a very cytotoxic lesion. We know very well the kinetics of induction and repair of different types of DNA damage in different organisms and cell lines.

The downregulation of anti-adhesive regulatory proteins and upregulation of adhesive genes are critical for the receptive endometrium. This study was designed to determine whether switching between the anti-adhesive podocalyxin (PDX) and adhesive HOXA10 receptivity modulator occurs in the endometrium of women with recurrent implantation failure (RIF). Twenty-four patients with RIF who could not conceive for three or more cycles despite good-quality embryo transfer constituted the study group.

Gastric ulcer disease and other potentially painful gastric conditions are among the most common afflictions adversely affecting the welfare of domestic equids. A large percentage of affected animals may not display the classic signs of gastric disease, such as unexplained weight loss, poor hair coat, and inappetence until the disease becomes severe. As a clinical service within our equine referral hospital, we routinely evaluate 24-h video recorded samples of horses to assist clinicians in identifying subtle discomfort and potential sources or to scan for infrequent neurologic or cardiac-related behavioral events.
