This article describes the morphology of antennae in larvae of three species of beetles from the families Cerambycidae and Chrysomelidae; one species of the caddis fly from the family Limnephilidae; and four species of dipterans from the families Culicidae, Chironomidae, and Muscidae. In all investigated species, the antenna has a sensory cone on it. Larvae of the caddis fly, longhorn beetles, and leaf beetles have on their antenna solitary sensillae and the sensory cone. This proves the advanced evolution of these species. Despite reduction of the head capsule, the antennal sensory cone in +-9/58 larvae of higher dipterans has become the dominant sensory structure.

Background: Syndromic genetic disorders affecting vision can also cause hearing loss, and Usher syndrome is by far the most common etiology. However, many other conditions can present dual sensory impairment. Accurate diagnosis is essential for providing patients with genetic counseling, prognostic information, and appropriate resources.

The solid waste generated from processing rosehip fruits into jam is valuable due to its rich content in fibres, polyphenols, and carotenoids; it could be valorised as a functional ingredient in a powder form to enrich food products. This study aimed to test its potential as a value-added ingredient, especially to enrich waffle cones with fibres, polyphenols, and carotenoids. In this regard, four formulations of waffle cones were prepared by partially substituting wheat flour with rosehip waste powder at 0%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, reaching concentrations of 0%, 3.

Odorant binding proteins (OBPs) play a key role in the crosstalk between the external environment and dendritic neuron activation. Ham sausage is an efficient bait widely used for monitoring the invasive ant Solenopsis invicta in the field, whereas the chemoreceptors involved in bait odorant perception in S. invicta have not been functionally characterized.
