Topological edge states (TESs) and topological corner states (TCSs) in photonic crystals (PCs) provide an effective way to control the propagation and localization of light. The topological performance of integrated photonic devices can be improved by introducing the basic structural unit of photonic quasicrystals (PQCs) into PCs. However, the previous works arranged the basic structural unit of Stampfli-type and 12-fold Penrose-type photonic quasicrystals into triangular lattices, which have a complex structure and allow light to only propagate around 60° or 120° corners, limiting their applications.

The growing demand for biological products drives many efforts to maximize expression of heterologous proteins. Advances in high-throughput sequencing can produce data suitable for building sequence-to-expression models with machine learning. The most accurate models have been trained on one-hot encodings, a mechanism-agnostic representation of nucleotide sequences.

These risk factors are the underlying cause of GI parasitic infections in many developing nations, including Nepal.
Aim: This study aimed to assess the prevalence and diversity of GI parasites and their association with a few risk factors within the marginalized indigenous Tharu people of the southern region of Nepal.
Killer whales () have been documented to prey on white sharks (), in some cases causing localised shark displacement and triggering ecological cascades. Notably, a series of such predation events have been reported from South Africa over the last decade, with killer whales specifically targeting sharks' liver. However, observations of these interactions are rare, and knowledge of their frequency across the world's oceans remains limited.
