Procedures for data preprocessing, quality control, data analysis, evaluation and visualization of the new high-throughput biomarker platform based on printed glycan arrays (PGA) are presented in this paper. PGAs are similar in concept to DNA arrays but contain deposits of various carbohydrate structures (glycans) instead of spotted DNAs. PGA biomarker discovery for the early detection, diagnosis and prognosis of human malignancies and viral diseases is based on the response of the immune system as measured by the level of binding of anti-glycan antibodies from human serum to the glycans on the array. Procedures related to PGA data processing are herein demonstrated in a pilot study of cases representing 50 sera from patients with malignant mesothelioma and a control sample of 65 sera from high risk subjects exposed to asbestos without symptoms of disease.

Purpose Of The Study: The preclinical study aimed to compare the healing of segmental bone defects treated with biodegradable hyaluronic acid and tricalcium phosphate-based hydrogel with the established autologous spongioplasty. Another aim was to evaluate the hydrogel as a scaffold for osteoinductive growth factor of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) and stem cells.
Material And Methods: The study was conducted in an in vivo animal model.

The demand for exploring and investigating novel starches for various applications has been high, yet starches abundant in Millettia speciosa Champ (M. speciose) plants have barely been studied. This study aims to investigate the multiscale structure and physicochemical properties, especially good hot-extrusion 3D printability of M.

Biofilm formation on biological and material surfaces represents a heavy health and economic burden for both patient and society. To contrast this phenomenon, medical devices combining antibacterial and pro-wound healing abilities are a promising strategy. In the present work, Xanthan gum/Guar gum (XG/GG)-based scaffolds were tuned with thymol and Zn to obtain wound dressings that combine antibacterial and antibiofilm properties and favour the healing process.

A recently minted field of 3D-printed edible electronics (EEs) represents a cutting-edge convergence of edible electronic devices and 3D printing technology. This review presents a comprehensive view of this emerging discipline, which has gathered significant scientific attention for its potential to create a safe, environmentally friendly, economical, and naturally degraded inside the human body. EEs have the potential to be used as medical and health devices to monitor physiological conditions and possibly treat diseases.

Soy proteins have good nutritional quality and exhibit a range of useful functional attributes, making them a viable option for replacing animal proteins in the development of more sustainable and eco-friendly plant-based food products. Nevertheless, soy proteins are prone to denaturation and/or aggregation under conditions they encounter in some food and beverage products (including certain pH, ionic, and thermal conditions), which adversely impact their functional performance. This problem can often be overcome by covalently (conjugation) or noncovalently (complexation) linking the soy proteins to polysaccharides or polyphenols, thereby expanding their application scope.
