This study aims to identify differences in the functional neural connectivity of the brain of paediatric patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Using EEG signals from 3673 paediatric patients, we grouped subjects into OSA or control groups based on sleep oxygen desaturation levels and apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), and applied topological data analysis (TDA) techniques. We evaluated our approach through statistical testing of TDA-based EEG features, which indicate fundamental differences in the functional neural connectivity of subjects with sleep apnea as compared to controls.

Background And Objective: Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of head and neck tissues has extensive clinical applications, but due to the complexity and variability of tissue structure, there is still a lack of a complete scheme to reconstruct the head and neck tissues. This study aims to establish a tissue-specified multi-directional cross-sectional image sequence construction method to capture diverse tissue contour information.

Methods: The image sequences that are most conducive to acquiring the boundary contours of the target tissue are constructed from 3D MRI images of the head and neck in a non-traditional way based on the characteristics of each target tissue, and an effective registration strategy is used to integrate the boundaries of the target tissue segmented from multiple image sequences.

Converging evidence suggests that sleep disturbances can directly contribute to a transdiagnostic combination of behavior and neurocognitive difficulties characterizing most forms of psychopathology. However, it remains unclear how the growing comprehension of sleep neurophysiology should best inform sleep quality assessment in mental health patients. To address this fundamental question, we performed deep multimodal sleep and behavioral phenotyping in 37 individuals at high genetic risk for psychopathology due to 22q11.

Chronic outcomes after mild-moderate traumatic brain injury in adult seizure-prone (FAST) and seizure-resistant (SLOW) rats: A model for understanding genetic contributions to acquired epileptogenesis?

Post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE) is a common, serious, long-term complication of traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, only a minority of individuals will develop epilepsy after a TBI, and the contribution of genetic predisposition to the risk of acquired epilepsy warrants further exploration. In this study, we examined whether innate, genetically determined differences in seizure susceptibility between seizure-prone FAST and seizure-resistant SLOW rat strains would influence chronic behavioral and PTE outcomes after experimental TBI.

: Obstructive sleep apnea is an extremely diffuse pathology that, if left untreated, can lead to very serious cardiovascular consequences. The primary goal of treatment is to maintain airflow in the upper airway tract, which can be obtained thanks to orthognathic surgery such as maxillo-mandibular advancement (MMA). This procedure increases the volume of the posterior airway space (PAS)-a parameter considered fundamental in OSA physiology.
