Background: Mohs surgery is a specialized surgical and pathological technique used for the removal of high-risk neoplasms. Previous reports show the ability of using a flexible blade for Mohs surgery.
Method: We utilized a technique combining the traditional #15 blade and scalpel with a flexible blade to perform excisions for Mohs surgery.
Discussion: The use of the flexible blade alone in Mohs may yield jagged tissue peripheral edges after cutting on the cryostat. The classic technique with a scalpel excision often results in a deeper cut than desired, resulting in a larger defect. We modified both the traditional Mohs technique and the flexible blade by combining both. We have performed this method in approximately over 100 cases on the scalp, face and ears, preserving tissue, minimizing bleeding and avoiding alopecia.

Background: Endotracheal intubation (ETI) is a life-saving procedure that must be accurately carried on to guard against complications. Presbyopia leads to difficulty in viewing close objects and may obstacle proper intubation even with the best hands.
Purpose: This study supposed that the use of video-laryngoscope (VL) may provide better intubation conditions for presbyopic anesthetists and targets to evaluate the neonates and infants' intubation success rates (ISR) by anesthetists aged ≥ 45 years using the C-MAC VL compared to the standard laryngoscope (SL).

Transmission matrix measurements of multimode fibers are now routinely performed in numerous laboratories, enabling control of the electric field at the distal end of the fiber and paving the way for the potential application to ultrathin medical endoscopes with high resolution. The same concepts are applicable to other areas, such as space division multiplexing, targeted power delivery, fiber laser performance, and the general study of the mode coupling properties of the fiber. However, the process of building an experimental setup and developing the supporting code to measure the fiber's transmission matrix remains challenging and time consuming, with full details on experimental design, data collection, and supporting algorithms spread over multiple papers or lacking in detail.

Waxes comprise a diverse set of materials from lubricants and coatings to biological materials such as the intracuticular wax layers on plant leaves that restrict water loss to inhibit dehydration. Despite the often mixed hydrocarbon chain lengths and functional groups within waxes, they show a propensity for ordering into crystalline phases, albeit with a wealth of solid solution behavior and disorder modes that determine chemical transport and mechanical properties. Here, we reveal the microscopic structure and heterogeneity of replica leaf wax models based on the dominant wax types in the plant, namely CH and CHOH and their binary mixtures.
