Experiments carried on Albino rabbits for detecting cyclic GMP in the eye tissues and to observe whether cGMP is influenced through local administration of insulin to the eye, externally. Whereas, for instance, intraveinous administration of insulin does not influence, in any way, concentration of cGMP -- after 3' to 10' -- in the humour aqueous, the lens, the vitreous body and the blood serum, following administration of insulin by means of retrobulbar injection, for the same time and on the same tissues, the values of cGMP appear increased. On the other hand, results yielded by our experiments allow us to estimate that environment preparing cGMP in the eye is the retina and the choroid.

A woman in her 40s presented with severe post-bariatric hypoglycaemia that persisted despite nutritional therapy and pharmacological therapy with acarbose and subcutaneous octreotide with meals. The nutritional limitations were difficult to sustain, and she developed adverse effects to the pharmacological therapy, and hence, doses could not be increased. She was subsequently treated with subcutaneous octreotide via an insulin pump, with a continuous basal rate and additional bolus doses with meals.

With the rise in fast-food culture and the continued high numbers of tobacco-related deaths, there has been a great deal of interest in understanding the relationship between high-fat diet (HFD) and nicotine use behaviors. Using adult mice and a patch-clamp electrophysiology assay, we investigated the influence of HFD on the excitability of ventral tegmental area (VTA) dopamine neurons and pyramidal neurons in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) given their role in modulating the reinforcing effects of nicotine and natural rewards. We then examined whether HFD-induced changes in peripheral markers were associated with nicotine use behaviors.

Patients with type 1 diabetes and their physicians have long desired a fully closed-loop artificial pancreas (AP) system that can alleviate the burden of blood glucose regulation. Although deep reinforcement learning (DRL) methods theoretically enable adaptive insulin dosing control, they face numerous challenges, including safety and training efficiency, which have hindered their clinical application. This paper proposes a safe and efficient adaptive insulin delivery controller based on DRL.

Backgrounds And Aims: Type 2 diabetes and its complications are assumed to be major public health problems globally. Zinc is one of the elements that play a part in insulin secretion and signaling. Therefore, this study seeks the answer to the following question: "What are the effects of 220 mg zinc sulfate supplementation on the weight, blood pressure, and glycemic control of patients with Type 2 diabetes?".

Adolescents with diabetes mellitus (DM) experience poorer glycemic outcomes and lower adherence to self-management regimens compared to other age groups. The coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic posed new barriers to DM self-management, including social distancing measures and additional stressors. We conducted a scoping review of peer-reviewed literature to examine self-management regimens and outcomes among adolescents aged 10-17 years with type 1 and type 2 DM during the pandemic.
