This study explores the use of chicken egg white (EW), a rich source of natural proteins, to address challenges in wound healing management. Herein, a novel Zn-infused EW/GelMA (EW/Gel) hybrid hydrogel is developed, featuring an interpenetrating network (IPN) structure, where the first network consists of photo-cross-linked GelMA and the second network consists of Zn-infused EW (Zn-EW) through ion-protein binding. By optimizing the design and formulation, the resulting Zn-EW/Gel hydrogel exhibited enhanced mechanical stability and self-adhesive properties.

The preparation of new phosphor with outstanding luminescent properties for white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) is consistently a challenging. Here in the present study, A novel white-emitting chloropatite phosphor Ca(PO)Cl:Eu was synthesized via the pechini sol gel synthesis with citric acid and polyethylene glycol (PEG) acid as a fuel at 850 °C systematically investigating the impact of doping concentration and synthesis temperature on both photoluminescence properties and crystal phase. The structural characteristics and crystalline nature of the prepared sample were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra.

Differential substrate specificity of ERK, JNK, and p38 MAP kinases toward Connexin 43.

J Biol Chem

January 2025

Department of Biological Sciences, Moravian University, 1200 Main Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, USA. Electronic address:

Phosphorylation of connexin 43 (Cx43) is an important regulatory mechanism of gap junction (GJ) function. Cx43 is modified by several kinases on over 15 sites within its ∼140 amino acid-long C-terminus (CT). Phosphorylation of Cx43CT on S255, S262, S279, and S282 by ERK has been widely documented in several cell lines, by many investigators.

This study investigates the effects of varying heat stress temperatures (56 °C to 76 °C) on the gel characteristics of egg white protein. The results indicate that when the heat stress temperature exceeds 60 °C, the textural properties, water-holding capacity, and freeze-thaw stability of egg white gel (EWG) decrease to varying extents compared to untreated EWG. At 76 °C, the proportion of free water in EWG increases from 0.

Natural bone is a self-regenerating nanocomposite made of proteins and minerals. Such self-regenerative capacity can be negatively affected by certain diseases involving the bone or its surrounding tissues. Our study assesses the ability of bone grafting material to regenerate bone in animals who have artificially created critical-sized defects.
