Cholesterol is a fundamental component of cellular membranes, and its organization, distribution, and recycling are tightly regulated. Cholesterol can form, together with other lipids and proteins, membrane nanodomains, which play important roles in membrane trafficking, the spatiotemporal organization of signal transduction, or the modulation of plasma membrane transporters, among others. Not surprisingly then, the misregulation of cholesterol biosynthetic and transport pathways has been related to numerous diseases, including neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders.

Introduction: A bibliometric analysis is used to assess the impact of research in a particular field. However, a specialized bibliometric analysis focused on hypothermic brain protection has not yet been conducted. This study aimed to identify the 100 most-cited articles published in the field of hypothermic brain protection and analyze their bibliometric characteristics.

Boranes featuring bulky hypersilyl or supersilyl groups and/or sterically unencumbered trimethylgermyl substituents were synthesized for investigation as potential precursors for atomic layer deposition (ALD) of elemental boron. The envisaged ALD process would employ a boron trihalide coreactant, exploiting the formation of strong silicon-halogen and germanium-halogen bonds as a driving force. The alkali metal silyl and germyl compounds hypersilyl lithium, {(MeSi)Si}Li(THF) (), supersilyl sodium, (BuSi)Na(THF) (, = 2-3), and trimethylgermyl lithium, {MeGeLi(THF)} (), were used for the synthesis of the silyl- and germyl-substituted boranes in this work.

Premature telomere shortening or telomere instability is associated with a group of rare and heterogeneous diseases collectively known as telomere biology disorders (TBDs). Here we identified two unrelated individuals with clinical manifestations of TBDs and short telomeres associated with the identical monoallelic variant c.767A>G; Y256C in Although the replication protein A2 (RPA2) mutant did not affect ssDNA binding and G-quadruplex-unfolding properties of RPA, the mutation reduced the affinity of RPA2 with the ubiquitin ligase RFWD3 and reduced RPA ubiquitination.

The construction of ecological security pattern (ESP) holds paramount importance in ensuring regional environment sustainability. This study introduces an innovative approach to ESP construction grounded in landscape ecological risk (LER) assessment, with Wu-Chang-Shi urban agglomeration in Xinjiang, China, serving as a case study. Initially, LER within the area was evaluated using the LER Index (LERI) method.
