A new fabrication method of apodized diffractive optical elements is proposed. It relies on using high energy beam sensitive glass as a halftone mask for variable diffraction efficiency phase masks generation in a resist layer. The presented technology is especially effective in mass production. Although fabrication of an amplitude mask is required, it is then repeatedly used in a single shot projection photolithography, which is much simpler and less laborious than the direct variable-dose pattern writing. Three prototypes of apodized phase masks were manufactured and characterized. The main advantages as well as limitations of the proposed technology are discussed.

Objective: Respiratory motion can affect image quality and thus affect the diagnostic accuracy of CT images by masking or mimicking relevant lung pathologies. CT examinations are often performed during deep inspiration and breath-hold to achieve optimal image quality. The stabilizing effect of biopolymers on Pickering emulsions has attracted widespread interest in recent years. In this study, the interactions between chitosan (CS) and octenyl succinic anhydride starch (OS) were investigated and used to modulate the interfacial properties of Pickering emulsions, which are crucial for determining emulsion stability. CS/OS complex particles were prepared via electrostatic and hydrogen-bonding interactions and used to stabilize Pickering emulsions for the encapsulation of astaxanthin (AST).

Background: Dolutegravir plus lamivudine has emerged as a preferred treatment for HIV; however, initiating this regimen without baseline resistance testing raises concerns about the potential presence of pretreatment lamivudine resistance. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of dolutegravir plus lamivudine in the absence of information on baseline resistance testing in treatment-naive people with HIV.
Methods: We did an open-label, non-inferiority, single-centre, phase 4, randomised controlled study (D2ARLING), designed to assess the efficacy and safety of dolutegravir plus lamivudine in treatment-naive people with HIV with no available baseline resistance testing.
