In this issue of Structure, Viennet et al. report a study characterizing the DNA binding by a three-zinc-finger fragment from the transcription factor BCL11A, with the unusual feature that an interfinger interaction in the free protein is disrupted during binding, which provides a positive entropic contribution that enhances the affinity.

The genomes of peridinin-containing dinoflagellate chloroplasts have a very unusual organisation. These genomes are highly fragmented and greatly reduced, with most of the usual complement of chloroplast genes relocated to the nucleus. Dinoflagellate chloroplasts highlight evolutionary changes that are found to varying extents in a number of other organelle genomes.

A 56-year-old man with hypertension suddenly experienced a visual field loss in his right eye while playing tennis.

Background: Anaplastic sarcoma of the kidney (ASK) is a DICER1-related neoplasm first identified as a distinctive tumor type through the evaluation of unusual cases of putative anaplastic Wilms tumors. Subsequent case reports identified the presence of biallelic DICER1 variants as well as progression from cystic nephroma, a benign DICER1-related neoplasm. Despite increasing recognition of ASK as a distinct entity, the optimal treatment remains unclear.
