Published: July 1990

The authors describe a microcomputer programme which makes its possible to evaluate monitoring of antiepileptic levels. The programme makes it possible to put into computer input data on the patient, ensure their editing and printing, classification according to parameters selected in advance, tables of dosage and effectiveness of therapy, or else the computer selects certain parameters for statistical processing. It is thus possible to work with relatively large groups as the database has a capacity of 1000 patients. The programme is sufficiently flexible and contributes substantially to the objective evaluation of the effectiveness of therapy of epilepsy.

Background: Human immunodeficiency virus continues to be a major global public health issue. Body mass index is a general indicator of nutritional status and has emerged as a powerful predictor of morbidity and mortality among adult PLHIV initiating antiretroviral therapy in resource-limited settings. However, there is a dearth of information regarding longitudinal changes in body mass index and its predictors among adult PLHIV in Ethiopia, particularly in the study area.

Background: There is a growing evidence base to support the use of self-management interventions for improving quality of life after stroke. However, stroke survivors with aphasia have been underrepresented in research to date. It is therefore unclear if self-management is an appropriate or effective approach for this group.

Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) is a condition where blood or bone marrow cells carry mutations associated with hematological malignancies. Individuals with CHIP have an increased risk of developing hematological malignancies, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and all-cause mortality. Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) of cells carrying CHIP mutations into irradiated mice are useful procedures to investigate the dynamics of clonal expansion and potential therapeutic strategies, but myeloablative conditioning can induce confounding effects.

Myocardial Injury after Noncardiac Surgery (MINS) is an increasingly recognized complication that significantly impacts postoperative morbidity and mortality. Characterized by elevated cardiac troponin levels without overt ischemic symptoms, MINS presents a challenge in perioperative care. This review article explores the epidemiology, etiology, and management of MINS, with a particular focus on prevention and the latest management strategies.
