In this paper we report on low-temperature CO isotopic scrambling ((12)C(16)O + (13)C(18)O →(12)C(18)O + (13)C(16)O). The reaction proceeds on a commercial silver-exchanged zeolite even at about 100 K and requires an optimal reduction degree of the catalysts.

The Laurani high-sulfidation epithermal deposit, located in the northeastern Altiplano of Bolivia, is a representative gold-polymetallic deposit linked to the late Miocene volcanic rocks that were formed approximately at about 7.5 Ma. At Laurani, four mineralization stages are defined.

A high-resolution record of central Mediterranean Sea Surface Temperatures (SSTs) based on the alkenone UK'37 index and planktic δ18O values for the surface-dweller G. ruber has been reconstructed across the Pliocene/Pleistocene transition at Monte San Nicola (Sicily), reference area for the GSSP (Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point) of the Gelasian Stage. Spectral analyses indicate that the SST record is predominantly paced by a cyclicity in the ~47 kyr time domain, consistent with the obliquity driven glacial-interglacial variability that is expected to dominate in the interval of relevance.

Enhanced electron transfer for the improvement of nitrogen removal efficiency and NO reduction at low temperatures.

Low temperature generally restricts biological activity, slowing down electron transfer in biogeochemical cycles and causing a series of environmental problems such as nitrogen pollution. We present a strategy to boost electron transfer in microbial cell at low temperatures via stimulation with low current. It is demonstrated by establishing a constructed wetland system coupled with solar powered microbial electrolysis cell, which enhances microbial activity through external micro currents (18.

Thin-film membranes of Pd-Ag and Pd-Cu alloys capable of releasing hydrogen in a wide temperature range have been developed. The surface activation of the membranes with a nanostructured coating made it possible to intensify hydrogen transport through Pd-containing membranes at low temperatures. This effect was achieved by accelerating limiting surface processes by increasing the active area of the membrane.

A new rigid non-polarizable model for semi-heavy water: TIP4P/2005-SHW.

In molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of water, rigid non-polarizable models are still valuable and widely used because of their low computational cost and excellent performance. Most of such models have been for light water (H2O) for a long time, and a few have recently been reported for heavy water (D2O). The specific models of D2O are needed because of its notably slower dynamics and stronger hydrogen bond than H2O.
