Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a heterogeneous syndrome characterized by impaired immunoglobulin production. Mutations in the gene encoding TACI (TNFRSF13B) were previously found to be associated with CVID. Previous studies have identified a variety of sequence variants in TACI where A181E and C104R were the most common, with variable frequencies in different ethnic populations. So far, no mutations were identified in the recently reported "TACI highly conserved" (THC) cytoplasmic domain, important for the induction of class switch recombination. Our study evaluated immunological and clinical data on a cohort of 28 Argentinean pediatric CVID patients and allowed the identification of two novel mutations in TNFRSF13B, including one, S231R, affecting the highly conserved THC domain. In contrast, none of the patients presented with A181E and C104R mutations.

Chronic insomnia is one of the most common health problems among veterans and can significantly impact health, function, and quality of life. Brief behavioral treatment for insomnia (BBTI), an adaptation of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), was developed to help increase access to care outside of specialty settings. However, training providers alone is rarely sufficient, and implementation strategies are needed for successful uptake, adoption, and sustainable delivery of care.

Riverine physical and chemical characteristics are influencing ecosystem integrity while shaping and impacting species richness and diversity. Changes in these factors could potentially influence community structuring through competition, predation and localised species extinctions. In this study, eight sampling sites over multiple seasons were assessed along the streams draining the City of Nelspruit, South Africa, to examine river health based on water and sediment quality, while using macroinvertebrates as bioindicators for pollution.

Unlabelled: The aim of this study was to identify parameters influencing DNA extraction and PCR amplification efficiencies in an attempt to standardize Mucorales qPCR. The Fungal PCR Initiative Mucorales Laboratory Working Group distributed two panels of simulated samples to 26 laboratories: Panel A (six sera spiked with Mucorales DNA and one negative control serum) and Panel B (six Mucorales DNA extracts). Panel A underwent DNA extraction in each laboratory according to the local procedure and were sent to a central laboratory for testing using three different qPCR techniques: one in-house qPCR assay and two commercial assays (MucorGenius and Fungiplex).

Insight into human physiology is key to maintaining diver safety in underwater operational environments. Numerous hazardous physiological phenomena can occur during the descent, the time at depth, the ascent, and the hours after a dive that can have enduring consequences. While safety measures and strict adherence to dive protocols make these events uncommon, diving disorders still occur, often with insufficient understanding of the factors that triggered the event.

Objective: is one of the leading causes of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Recurrent infection (rCDI) is significant because of prolonged hospital stays, morbidity, and additional costs. Our study aimed to examine the characteristics of infections and investigate factors associated with recurrence.
