The crystal structure of the low-temperature form of synthetic naumannite [disilver(I) selenide], Ag(2)Se, has been reinvestigated based on single-crystal data. In comparison with previous powder diffraction studies, anisotropic displacement parameters are additionally reported. The structure is composed of Se layers and two crystallographically independent Ag atoms. One Ag atom lies close to the Se layer and is surrounded by four Se atoms in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination, while the second Ag atom lies between the Se layers and exhibits a [3 + 1] coordination defined by three close Se atoms, forming a trigonal plane, and one remote Se atom.

The black soldier fly, , is a voracious scavenger of various organic materials; therefore, it could be exploited as a biological system for processing daily food waste. In order to survey novel hydrolytic enzymes, we constructed a fosmid metagenome library using unculturable intestinal microorganisms from . Through functional screening of the library on carboxymethyl cellulose plates, we identified a fosmid clone, the product of which displayed hydrolytic activity.

Acid-fracturing technology has been applied to form pathways between deep oil/gas resources and oil production pipelines. The acid fracturing fluid is required to have special slow-release performance, with no acidity at low temperatures, while steadily generating acid at high temperatures underground. At present, commercial acid systems in oilfields present problems such as the uncontrollable release effect, high costs, and significant pollution.

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based materials are the most researched polymers in the field of energy harvesting. Their production in thin-film form through printing technologies can potentially offer several manufacturing and performance advantages, such as low-cost, low-temperature processing, use of flexible substrates, custom design, low thermal inertia and surface-scaling performance. However, solution-based processes, like printing, miss fine control of the microstructure during film-forming, making it difficult to achieve a high level of polarization, necessary for PVDF to exhibit electroactive characteristics.

The molecular chains of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) show breakage during daily use, causing poor crystallization and leading to mechanical properties that, when blended with the nucleating agent, become an effective method of solving this problem. The salt-nucleating agent sodium benzoate (SB), disodium terephthalate (DT), and trisodium 1,3,5benzene tricarboxylic (TBT) were synthesized, and an rPET/nucleating agent blend was prepared. The intrinsic viscosity () results showed that the of the rPET/SB was decreased, which indicated the breakage of the rPET molecular chains.
