Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a common cause of death in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), but identification of patients at a high risk of SCD is challenging. The study aimed to validate the three SCD risk stratifications recommended by the 2011 ACCF/AHA guideline, the 2014 ESC guideline, and the 2020 AHA/ACC guideline in Chinese HCM patients. The study population consisted of a consecutive cohort of 511 patients with HCM without a history of SCD event.

Background: Risk stratification for sudden cardiac death (SCD) in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is based on different algorithms proposed by the 2011 ACCF/AHA and 2014 ESC guidelines.
Objective: To analyze the 2014 ESC model for SCD risk stratification and primary prevention ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator) in HCM in comparison to the North American guideline.
Methods: An HCM cohort was evaluated and the ESC HCM-Risk SCD score was calculated.

Background: The lack of validated and effective sudden cardiac death (SCD) risk prediction methods is the biggest barrier to perform the lifesaving treatment with a prophylactic implantable cardioverter-defibrillator in Chinese patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of 3 existing SCD risk prediction methods recommended by the 2011 American College of Cardiology Foundation and American Heart Association (ACCF/AHA) guideline, the 2014 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guideline, and the 2019 enhanced American College of Cardiology (ACC)/AHA strategy in Chinese patients with HCM.
Methods: The present study consisted of 1369 consecutive adult patients with HCM without a history of SCD events.

Background: The new European Society of Cardiology guidelines for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) define the estimation of sudden cardiac death (SCD) risk as an integral part of clinical management. An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is recommended (class IIa) when the risk is ≥ 6%.
Objectives: To compare the SCD risk stratification according to the 2011 and 2014 recommendations for ICD implantation in patients with HCM.

Importance: Limited data exist on the prevalence and prognostic importance of right ventricular (RV) dysfunction for heart failure (HF) in the general population.
Objective: To assess the prevalence of RV dysfunction and its association with HF and mortality in a community-based elderly cohort.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Cross-sectional and time-to-event analysis of participants in the Atherosclerosis Risks in the Community (ARIC), a multicenter, population-based cohort study at the fifth study visit from 2011 to 2013, with a median follow-up of 4.
