Pediatric nursing is a specialization that requires a particular set of skills and abilities. Most nurses seldom get the chance to interact with families who have children living with exceptionalities unless they choose to work in tertiary settings dealing exclusively with children. This article explores how one school of nursing in Canada offers its students two unique learning opportunities where they get the chance to work with children who have special needs in an interdisciplinary community-based setting. Shared statements from parents and students highlight the benefits to all those involved.

Accumulating evidence indicates that unpredictable signals in early life represent a unique form of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) associated with disrupted neurodevelopmental trajectories in children and adolescents. The Questionnaire of Unpredictability in Childhood (QUIC) was developed to assess early life unpredictability [1], encompassing social, emotional, and physical unpredictability in a child's environment, and has been validated in three independent cohorts. However, the importance of identifying ACEs in diverse populations, including non-English speaking groups, necessitates translation of the QUIC.

The usefulness of zebrafish for understanding the human nervous system is exemplified by the articles in part 1. The virtual special issue part 2 not only covers more work using this well-established species, but also highlights that other fish species may serve as alternative or more appropriate models, due to unique biological or evolutionary characteristics, to explore genetic and molecular mechanisms of neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Importance: A recent advisory from the American Heart Association delineated the potential benefits of developmental care for hospitalized children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and a critical gap in research evaluating the association of such inpatient programs with neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Objective: To investigate associations between the Cardiac Inpatient Neurodevelopmental Care Optimization (CINCO) program interventions, delirium, and neurodevelopment in young children (newborn through age 2 years) hospitalized with CHD.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study used quality improvement data from inpatient cardiac units at a tertiary care children's hospital in the US.

An important aspect of precision medicine focuses on characterizing diverse responses to treatment due to unique patient characteristics, also known as heterogeneous treatment effects (HTE) or individualized treatment effects (ITE), and identifying beneficial subgroups with enhanced treatment effects. Estimating HTE with right-censored data in observational studies remains challenging. In this paper, we propose a pseudo-ITE-based framework for analyzing HTE in survival data, which includes a group of meta-learners for estimating HTE, a variable importance metric for identifying predictive variables to HTE, and a data-adaptive procedure to select subgroups with enhanced treatment effects.

Complex lymphatic anomalies are unique diseases marked by abnormal lymphatic vessel development and growth. Imaging is crucial in the evaluation and management of complex lymphatic anomalies, with dynamic contrast-enhanced MR lymphangiography emerging as a valuable modality for visualizing abnormal lymphatic structures and informing treatment decisions. This article gives an overview of complex lymphatic anomalies and their management strategies, focusing specifically on generalized lymphatic anomaly, Gorham-Stout disease, Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis, and central conducting lymphatic anomalies.
