A case of a mandibular fracture with an unusual complication is reported. A 13-year-old boy was admitted four years after conservative treatment of a symphyseal fracture. He complained of recurrent swelling. A radiographic evaluation showed a horizontally laid permanent mandibular left lateral incisor (PMLLI) that had probably slid into the fracture line and provoked repetitive infection episodes. After a surgery, a clinical and radiological analysis showed satisfactory healing.

During the routine removal of osteosynthesis materials after surgical treatment (ORIF) of condylar head fractures (CHFs), as performed at our clinic, localised and sometimes pronounced intra-articular scarring were observed quite regularly. This prospective study therefore investigates the causes of intra-articular scarring and its impact on functionality after surgical treatment (ORIF) of condylar head fractures (CHFs). Moreover, 80/98 patients with 96/114 CHFs (ORIF between 2014 and 2024) were evaluated when performing hardware removal.

This retrospective case series describes a technique for achieving rigid open mouth maxillomandibular fixation using interarch wiring while maintaining correct alignment between the upper and lower teeth with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) moulds of the canine teeth for treating maxillomandibular fractures in cats. Aim: To evaluate the effect of applying a matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor on the fracture resistance of root-filled teeth restored with Everstick fiber-reinforced composite resin.
Subjects And Methods: After the selection of 60 freshly extracted human mandibular first molar, root canal access and standard uniformly sized mesio-occluso-distal (MOD) cavities were made and the teeth were randomly assigned into three groups ( = 20 each): Group I, the MOD cavity was first lined with flowable composite resin and then restored with composite resin. In Group II, Everstick fiber was placed into the bed of flowable composite in buccal-pulpal-lingual direction before the composite restoration was placed.
