Electronic waste (e-waste) contains substantial quantities of valuable precious metals, particularly gold (Au). However, inefficient metal recovery leads to these precious metals being discarded in landfills, causing significant water and environmental contamination. This study introduces a two-dimensional (2D) electrode with a layered graphene oxide membrane functionalized by chitosan (GO/CS).

Continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH) is frequently performed in critically ill patients using diluted citrate for regional anticoagulation. The impact of this renal replacement strategy on plasma sodium has not been evaluated yet. Our aim was therefore to assess the period prevalence of hyponatremia (sodium <135 mmol/L) during CVVH and discuss possible underlying mechanisms.

Introduction: Discrepancies between electrolyte concentrations determined by blood gas analysers (BGA) and core-lab chemistry analysers may create confusion in clinical practice. This problem is rooted in the different ion-selective electrode (ISE) methodologies that are used. Whilst most available chemistry analysers use indirect ISE, we evaluated the analytical performance of the new automated chemistry analyser Biossays™ E6 (Snibe), equipped with direct ISE, for the determination of sodium (Na), potassium (K), chloride (Cl), ionized calcium (iCa) and pH.

A series of supramolecular hydrogels are constructed through selective metal coordination to a mannose-grafted Anderson-type polyoxometalate under sonication. The crosslinked helical nanofibers in the hydrogels are characterized by the synthesized hybrid clusters adopting a half-overlapped head-to-tail packing while the chirality of the mannose group directs the preferential assembly.
