Background: The systemic use of combined amoxicillin and metronidazole (AMX/MET) as an adjunctive treatment to full-mouth scaling and root planing (FMSRP) has been proposed for the treatment of generalized aggressive periodontitis; however, its effectiveness and clinical safety remain to be defined. The purpose of the present meta-analysis is to assess the effectiveness of FMSRP + AMX/MET compared to FMSRP alone.
Methods: An electronic search of eight databases and a hand-search of 10 international dental journals were conducted through September 11, 2011. Gain in clinical attachment level (CAL), reduction in probing depth (PD), secondary outcomes, and adverse events were analyzed. A random-effect model was used to pool the extracted data. The weighted mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated for continuous outcomes, whereas risk difference (RD) with 95% CI was used for dichotomous data; heterogeneity was assessed with the χ(2)-based Cochran Q test and I(2) statistic. The level of significance was set at P <0.05.
Results: After the selection process, six randomized clinical trials were included. Results of the meta-analysis showed significant CAL gain (MD, 0.42; 95% CI, 0.23 to 0.61; P <0.05) and PD reduction (MD, 0.58; 95% CI, 0.39 to 0.77; P <0.05) in favor of FMSRP + AMX/MET; moreover, no significant RD was found in the occurrence of adverse events (RD, 0.01; 95% CI, -0.02 to 0.04; P >0.05).
Conclusion: The findings of the meta-analysis seem to support the effectiveness and the clinical safety of FMSRP + AMX/MET; however, future studies are needed to confirm these results.

Objective: To evaluate short, mid and long-term clinical outcomes and patients' satisfaction of minimally invasive full-mouth rehabilitation using different materials and techniques for patients with moderate to severe tooth wear. Furthermore, materials were analyzed to identify their influences on clinical results.
Materials And Methods: Search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trial, Embase, Web of science and Scopus until December 19, 2024.

Purpose: The study assessed the clinical outcomes following treatment of peri-implant mucositis using Er:YAG laser or an ultrasonic device over six months. Patients' experience of pain, aesthetics, and Quality of life were further assessed.
Methods: One dental implant, per included patient, diagnosed with peri-implant mucositis underwent treatment with an Er:YAG laser (test) or an ultrasonic scaler (control) randomly.

To observe the stability of vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) and mandibular position in full-mouth occlusal reconstruction subjects by means of digital occlusal analysis. Six subjects who had completed full-mouth occlusal reconstruction by intraoral functional generated path technique for more than three years in the Department of Prosthodontics, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology were enrolled for follow-up observation, all six patients were male, with an age of (53.6±8.

To assess and compare two techniques of low-level laser application-transgingival (TLLLT) and intrasulcular (ILLLT)-used in photobiomodulation as an adjunct to basic periodontal therapy (BPT) in patients with periodontitis. A randomized, split-mouth, double-blind clinical trial was conducted, selecting three diseased periodontal sites from different quadrants in each patient. These sites were assigned to one of three treatment groups: SRP (control), SRP + TLLLT (test 1), and SRP + ILLLT (test 2).

Background: Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) is a very rare autosomal inherited bleeding disease affecting megakaryocyte lineage with impacts on oral health such as gingival bleeding, which requires specific management protocols. Very few clinical cases have been published in the dental and hematologic literature.
Objectives: This study focuses on a series of 21 patients affected specifically by GT and their hemorrhagic prophylaxis management with the use of recombinant activated factor VII (rFVIIa) for dental extractions and full-mouth debridement.
