Sochi virus, a novel genetic variant of Dobrava-Belgrade virus, was isolated in cell culture from a fulminant lethal case of hantavirus disease presenting with shock and combined kidney and lung failure. Sochi virus is transmitted to humans from host reservoir Apodemus ponticus and must be considered a life-threatening emerging agent.

Oncolytic viruses (OVs) represent a targeted anti-cancer therapy approach due to their ability not only to selectively infect and destroy malignant cells but also to induce an immune response. Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) offers a promising platform due to its low prevalence and pathogenicity in humans, lack of pre-existing immunity, easily manipulated genome, rapid growth to high titers in a broad range of cell lines, and inability to integrate into the host genome. However, despite its many advantages, many unresolved problems remain: problematic production based on the reverse genetics system, oncological selectivity, and the overall effectiveness of VSV monotherapy.

The combined or multivalent vaccines are actively used in pediatric practice and offer a series of advantages, including a reduced number of injections and visits to the doctor, simplicity of the vaccination schedule and minimization of side effects, easier vaccine monitoring and storage, and lower vaccination costs. The practice of widespread use of the combined vaccines has shown the potential to increase vaccination coverage against single infections. The mRNA platform has been shown to be effective against the COVID-19 pandemic and enables the development of combined vaccines.

Background: Influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses are two highly variable pathogens. We have developed a candidate bivalent live vaccine based on the strain of licensed A/Leningrad/17-based cold-adapted live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) of H3N2 subtype, which expressed SARS-CoV-2 immunogenic T-cell epitopes. A cassette encoding fragments of S and N proteins of SARS-CoV-2 was inserted into the influenza NA gene using the P2A autocleavage site.
