A new concept for in vitro visual evaluation of sun protection factor (SPF) of cosmetic formulations based on a supramolecular ultraviolet (UV) dosimeter was clearly demonstrated. The method closely parallels the method validated for in vivo evaluation and relies on the determination of the slightest perceptible bleaching of an iron-complex dye/nanocrystalline-titanium dioxide interface (UV dosimeter) in combination with an artificial skin substrate simulating the actual human skin in the presence and absence of a cosmetic formulation. The successful evaluation of SPF was ensured by the similarity of the erythema response of our dosimeter and human skin to UV light irradiation. A good linear correlation of in vitro and in vivo data up to SPF 40 confirmed the effectiveness of such a simple, cheap, and fast method. In short, here we unravel a convenient and accessible visual FPS evaluation method that can help improving the control on cosmetic products contributing to the reduction of skin cancer, one of the critical public health issues nowadays.

In this paper, a series of oxadiazole/thidiazole containing coumarin derivative derivatives were designed, synthesized and characterized using NMR and HRMS. The evaluation of antiviral activity revealed that some of the synthesized compounds exhibited good in vivo antiviral efficacy against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). Notably, compounds H6 and Y5 demonstrated exceptional therapeutic and protective effects against TMV, with EC values of 180.

The quinazoline scaffold serves as a fundamental framework, demonstrating potent anti-tumor activity. Employing the pharmacophore-based scaffold hopping principle, we successfully synthesized a series of FAK/PLK1 inhibitors incorporating the quinazoline scaffold. The synthesized compounds were characterized using H NMR, C NMR, and HRMS techniques.

January 2025

Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Eye and ENT Hospital, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, 83 Fenyang Road, Shanghai, 200031, China.

Purpose: To describe the clinical characteristics of glaucoma-related adverse events (GRAE) after pediatric cataract surgery. More importantly, to identify the factors associated with the time of GRAE onset and the preferred anti-glaucomatous surgical procedure for this disease.

Methods: Hospitalized medical records of patients who developed GRAE, which include glaucoma and glaucoma suspect, after pediatric cataract surgery (surgical age ≤ 14 years) between 1994 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed.
