Comparative analysis and evaluation of all modern methods used for medicolegal diagnosis of poisoning with Amanita phalloides are presented. Imperfection of methods used for laboratory diagnosis of such poisonings requires extensive experimental control using the designed method of liquid chromatography for amanitine and phalloidine assay in the cadaveric organs and tissues.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains a significant global health challenge, emphasizing the need for precise identification of patients with specific therapeutic targets and those at high risk of metastasis. This study aimed to identify novel therapeutic targets for personalized treatment of TNBC patients by elucidating their roles in cell cycle regulation. Using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), we identified 83 hub genes by integrating gene expression profiles with clinical pathological grades.

Eco-Friendly Fabrication of FeS QD-Chitosan Biopolymer Composites: Green Synthetic Approach.

Biopolymers

March 2025

Department of Chemistry, School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, India.

In this paper, we offer a unique green synthetic approach for producing iron sulfide quantum dots (FeS QD)-chitosan composites using gel chemistry. The technique uses the environmental features of chitosan, a biocompatible and biodegradable polysaccharide, and the excellent electrical properties of FeS QDs. By sustainable chemistry principles, the synthesis process is carried out under gentle settings, using aqueous solutions and avoiding hazardous solvents and strong chemicals.

Inflammatory bowel disease is a collection of intestinal disorders that cause inflammation in the digestive tract. Prolonged inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract is a major risk factor for colorectal cancer. The objective of this study was to fucus on gene expression levels of (KRT-14; associated with epithelial cell integrity) and enhancer of zeste homolog-1 (EZH-2; involved in cellular proliferation) in a IBD rat model in order to rule out impact of nutraceuticals (pumpkin seed oil; PSO) as a complementary approach to conventional treatments of IBD.

Mortality data systems are upstream determinants of health, providing critical information on causes of death and population health trends and influencing health outcomes by shaping policies, research, and resource allocation. Moreover, the gender-related deaths of women and girls are significantly underrepresented or underrecognized in mortality data across many countries. This paper seeks to identify potential barriers and facilitators to improving the representation of femicide data.

Enhancing trace DNA profile recovery in forensic casework using the amplicon RX post-PCR clean-up kit.

Sci Rep

January 2025

The Biology and DNA Section, General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, Dubai Police General Head Quarters, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

This study evaluated the effectiveness of the amplicon RX post-PCR clean-up kit in enhancing trace DNA profile recovery from forensic casework samples amplified using the GlobalFiler PCR amplification kit. The impact of post-PCR clean-up on allele recovery and signal intensity was assessed in both trace casework samples and control samples across a range of DNA concentrations. The results showed that the amplicon RX method significantly improved allele recovery compared to the 29-cycle protocol (p = 8.
