Karpicke and Blunt (Reports, 11 February 2011, p. 772) reported that retrieval practice produces greater gains in learning than elaborative studying with concept mapping and concluded that this strategy is a powerful way to promote meaningful learning of complex concepts commonly found in science education. We question their findings on methodological and epistemological grounds.

Solid-liquid biphasic absorbents are a promising solution for overcoming the high-energy consumption challenge faced by liquid amine-based CO capture technologies. However, their practical applications are often hindered by difficulties in separating viscous solid-phase products. This study introduces a novel nonaqueous absorbent system (PD/PZ/NMP) composed of 4-amino-1-methylpiperidine (PD), piperazine (PZ), and -methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), engineered to produce easily separable powdery products.

Background/purpose: Different types of scanners are gradually used to produce digital dental casts in the current dental practice. This study tested the accuracy of the three desktop scanners and two intraoral scanners and evaluated whether the desktop scanners had higher precision than the intraoral scanners.
Materials And Methods: This study used the three desktop and two intraoral scanners to scan a standard dental cast 5 times.
Purpose: This in vitro study investigates the accuracy of digital impressions taken with different dental materials. It compares the scan accuracy and trueness of a handheld scanner operated by an experienced clinician, a handheld scanner operated by a robotic arm, and a tabletop scanner. By measuring the number of triangles, average degree, and vertices within the three groups, conclusions about the accuracy of different scanning methods on digital models can be drawn.

Background: Students must be prepared for the transference of medication administration (pharmacology knowledge and clinical skills) to clinical practice. The Preparedness for Medication Oral Administration questionnaire has been used in several studies and demonstrated strong internal reliability and consistency. The questionnaire has been revised to align with updated medication competencies.

Background: A mastery of life-threatening trauma procedures is important for medical students aiming to become proficient physicians. Thus, this study compares the effectiveness of deliberate practice with that of conventional lecture methods in teaching such students these essential skills.
Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 48 first- to third-year medical students at the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital at Navamindradhiraj University (Thailand).
