The umami taste is well validated in Asian culture but remains less recognized and accepted in European cultures despite its presence in natural local products. This study explored the sensory and emotional perceptions of umami in 233 Austrian participants who had lived in Austria for most of their lives. Using blind tasting, participants evaluated monosodium glutamate (MSG) dissolved in water, providing open-ended verbal descriptions, pleasantness ratings, and comparisons to a sodium chloride (NaCl) solution.

Background: Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (ADR) is used as both a traditional Chinese medicine and a food ingredient in China and East Asian countries. ADR is generally sun-dried post-harvest but is sometimes sulfur-fumigated to prevent decay and rot. Using a direct knitting strategy, we successfully prepared a novel heterogeneous catalyst consisting of pyridine-bridged bis(imidazolium-2-ylidene) palladium complexes (CNC-Pd) embedded in a knitted network polymer. The resulting catalysts (HCP-CNC-Pd-d) exhibited high specific surface areas of 982 m2 g-1 with microporous and mesoporous structures. The large surface area enhances contact between the substrate and the catalytic center, while the strong chelation between CNC and the metal ion ensures the catalyst's durability.

This study explores the integration of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education in Sri Lanka, utilizing the Health Belief Model (HBM) to predict the perceived quality of SRH education among non-state undergraduate students. In many Asian countries, including Sri Lanka, cultural resistance and skepticism often challenge SRH education initiatives. The research is based on a questionnaire survey, examining factors influencing the perceived quality of SRH education, such as cultural norms, embarrassment, attitudes, awareness, and institutional support.
