Our previous studies revealed a mating attractant or possibly a pheromone released from molting reproductive mature female prawns, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, stimulates the expression of insulin-like androgenic gland hormones in a co-culture system. The released attractant is perceived by olfactory receptors with setae located on the short lateral antennules (slAn), which connect to the olfactory neuropil in the central nervous system (CNS) of male prawns. This neural signaling propagating through the CNS is mediated by at least four neuropeptides, namely neuropeptide F (NPF), short NPF (sNPF), tachykinin (TK), and allatostatin-A (ATS-A) whose transcripts have been detected in the present study.

Given the high morbidity, mortality, and hereditary risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), their prevention and control have garnered widespread attention and remain central to clinical research. This study aims to assess the feasibility and necessity of haplotyping-based preimplantation genetic testing for the prevention of inherited CVD. A total of 15 preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic defect (PGT-M) cycles were performed in 12 CVD families from January 2016 to July 2022.

Despite advancements in antiretroviral therapy (ART) that reduces the viral load to undetectable levels and improve CD4 T cell counts, viral eradication has not been achieved due to HIV-1 persistence in resting CD4 T-cells. We, therefore, characterized the gene, which is essential for HIV-1 replication and pathogenesis, from 20 virologically controlled aging individuals with HIV (HIV) on long-term ART and improved CD4 T-cell counts, with a particular focus on older individuals. Peripheral blood mononuclear cell genomic DNA from HIV were used to amplify gene by polymerase chain reaction followed by nucleotide sequencing and analysis.

Plant viruses need host factors to complete their life cycle. The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) and its isoforms are the host factors essential for infection by plant viruses in the genus Potyvirus. The present study describes the characterization of eIF4E gene in banana cultivar Nendran, and its interaction with the viral genome-linked protein (VPg) of banana bract mosaic virus (BBrMV).

High-throughput genotyping and sequencing has revolutionized animal breeding by providing access to vast amounts of genomic data to facilitate precise selection for desirable traits. This shift from traditional methods to genomic selection provides dense marker information for predicting genetic variants. However, the success of genomic selection heavily depends on the accuracy and quality of the genomic data.
