A porous polymer network (PPN) grafted with sulfonic acid (PPN-6-SO(3)H) and its lithium salt (PPN-6-SO(3)Li) exhibit significant increases in isosteric heats of CO(2) adsorption and CO(2)-uptake capacities. IAST calculations using single-component-isotherm data and a 15/85 CO(2)/N(2) ratio at 295 K and 1 bar revealed that the sulfonate-grafted PPN-6 networks show exceptionally high adsorption selectivity for CO(2) over N(2) (155 and 414 for PPN-6-SO(3)H and PPN-6-SO(3)Li, respectively). Since these PPNs also possess ultrahigh physicochemical stability, practical applications in postcombustion capture of CO(2) lie well within the realm of possibility.

As a global challenge, marine biofouling is causing serious economic losses and adverse ecological impacts. In recent years, a variety of promising and environmentally friendly anti-fouling strategies have emerged, among which the excellent anti-fouling performance of bionic autocrine coatings has been recognized. However, bionic autocrine coatings still suffer from uncontrollable secretion behavior, poor mechanical stability, and poor abrasion resistance.

Ethyl cellulose (EC) is a biocompatible, renewable, and recyclable material with diverse sources, making it an attractive candidate for industrial applications. Electrospinning has gained significant attention for the production of EC fibers. However, conventional electrospinning methods face challenges such as bead formation, low yield, and the absence of porous internal structures, limiting both the functional performance and scalability.

The global quest for clean energy and sustainable processes makes advanced membrane extremely attractive for energy-intensive industrial gas separations. Here, we disclosed a series of ultra-high-performance gas separation membranes (PIM-3D-TB) from novel network polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIM) that combine the advantages of solution processible PIM and small pore size distribution (PSD) of porous organic polymers (POP), which was synthesized by in situ copolymerization of triptycene-2,6-diamine as linear part and triptycene-2,6,13(14)-triamine (TTA) as crosslinker. The resulting PIM-3D-TB membranes demonstrated outstanding separation properties that outperformed the latest trade-off lines for H/CH and O/N.

Real-time monitoring of hemodynamics is crucial for diagnosing disorders within implanted vascular grafts and facilitating timely treatment. Integrating vascular grafts with advanced flexible electronics offers a promising approach to developing smart vascular grafts (SVGs) capable of continuous hemodynamic monitoring. However, most existing SVG devices encounter significant challenges in practical applications, particularly regarding biomechanical compatibility and the effective evaluation of vascular status.

We designed and synthesized three diacetylene monomers M1-M3 having two NH2 groups. As anticipated, the NH2 groups aided the preorganization of these monomers by N-H…N hydrogen bonding. In the crystals of monomer M1 and M2, the intermolecular N-H…N hydrogen bonding preorganized the diyne units in an orientation suitable for their topochemical polymerization, but in the case of monomer M3, the distance was slightly larger than that recommended for the topochemical reaction.
