We succeeded in inducing conjugation of Spirogyra castanacea by incubating algal filaments on agar plate. Conjugation could be induced using clone culture. The scalariform conjugation was generally observed, while lateral conjugation was rarely. When two filaments formed scalariform conjugation, all cells of one filament behaved as male and those of other filament did as female. Very rarely, however, zygospores were formed in both of pair filaments. The surface of conjugation tube was stained with fluorescently labeled-lectins, such as Bandeiraea (Griffonia) simplicifolia lectin (BSL-I) and jacalin. BSL-I strongly stained the conjugation tubes, while weakly did the cell surface of female gamete first and then that of male gamete. Jacalin stained mainly the conjugation tubes. Addition of jacalin inhibited the formation of papilla, suggesting some important role of jacalin-binding material at the initial step of formation of the conjugation tubes.

High-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) represents the most lethal subtype of ovarian cancer, largely due to being commonly diagnosed at advanced stages. The early molecular mechanisms underlying ovarian carcinogenesis remain poorly defined, posing challenges to the development of prevention and early detection strategies. Here we dissect the molecular mechanisms of sex steroid hormone signaling throughout the decades-long evolution of HGSOC precursor lesions, which predominantly originate from secretory epithelial cells of fallopian tubes (FT).

Recently, peptide-drug conjugate (PDC) has become the most promising conjugated drug for tumor therapy after antibody-drug conjugate due to stronger tumor penetration capacity and lower immunogenicity. CBP-1018 was a PDC with dual-ligand conjugated to MMAE via a cleavable linker (MC-Val-Cit-PABC) that can be lysed by cathepsins B. In this study, two specific LC-MS/MS methods were developed and validated for the determination of CBP-1018 and its metabolite MMAE in human plasma.

Lipoproteins in plasma are constituted by the least dense chylomicron, very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) that can be separated using commercially available medium such as iodixanol. Iodixanol constitutes the self-generated density gradient to fractionate lipoproteins by rapid ultracentrifugation method, replacing time-consuming protocols. Filling the centrifuge tubes is technically easier and faster than layering salt gradients and is reproducible.
