1-Methylxanthine (1-MX) is the major metabolite of caffeine and paraxanthine and might contribute to their activity. 1-MX is an adenosine receptor antagonist and increases the release and survivability of neurotransmitters; however, no study has addressed the potential physiological effects of 1-MX ingestion. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of 1-MX on memory and related biomarkers in rats compared to control.

The structural groups of 2-oxindole and tricyclic 3a-hydroxy-hexahydropyrrolo-[2,3-]indole (HO-HPI) are important pharmacophores. Chemical synthesis of complex alkaloids containing a 2-oxindole or HO-HPI moiety, especially the latter one, has been a long-standing challenge. Herein, we characterized the P450 enzyme AfnD, and its homologue proteins, HmtT, ClpD, KtzM, and LtzR, as cyclopeptide 2-oxindole and HO-HPI monooxygenases (cpOPMOs) that could introduce a 2-oxindole or HO-HPI moiety into the tryptophan-containing cyclopeptides in a pH-dependent manner.

Background: In the fifth National Wilms Tumor Study, patients received vincristine and dactinomycin (VA) without radiation for stage I focal anaplastic Wilms tumor (FAWT) and VA plus doxorubicin (DD4A) and radiation for stage II-IV FAWT. Four-year event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) for stage I FAWT were 67.5% and 88.

Purpose: To create a computer-aided prediction (CAP) system to predict Wilms tumor (WT) responsiveness to preoperative chemotherapy (PC) using pre-therapy contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT).

Materials And Methods: A single-center database was reviewed for children <18 years diagnosed with WT and received PC between 2001 and 2021. Patients were excluded if pre- and post-PC CECT were not retrievable.

, a genus within the Malvaceae family, is abundantly distributed in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide. Many species of this genus are widely utilized in various ways, including chewing, in folk medicine, acting as an anti-inflammatory agent, and treating gastrointestinal disorders, rheumatism, and asthma, among other conditions. These applications are largely due to their secondary metabolites, primarily quinolone alkaloids and cyclopeptides.
