Effects of linoleic acid and its oxidation products (with 75--80% content of hydroperoxide) on isolated succinate dehydrogenase were studied by means of spectrophotometry and ESR-spectroscopy. It was shown that unlike the unoxidized acid, low concentrations of its oxidation products increased catalytic activity, while its high concentrations of its oxidation products increased catalytic activity, while its high concentrations brought about a decrease of SH-group content and the amplitude of ESR signal of reduced nonheme iron in the enzyme.

Point of Care (POC) diagnosis provides an effective approach for controlling and managing Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). Electrochemical biosensors are well-suited for molecular diagnostics due to their high sensitivity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of integration into POC devices. Schistosomiasis is a prominent NTD highly prevalent in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with significant socioeconomic implications such as discrimination, reduced work capacity, or mortality, perpetuating the cycle of poverty in affected regions worldwide.

Apigenin, a dietary flavonoid with notable anti-cancer properties, has emerged as a promising candidate for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer's disease (AD). While extensively studied for its ability to modulate key molecular pathways in cancers, apigenin also exerts neuroprotective effects by reducing neuroinflammation, protecting neurons from oxidative stress, and enhancing neuronal survival and synaptic plasticity. This dual functionality makes apigenin an intriguing therapeutic option for diseases like AD, where kinase dysregulation plays a central role.

In this study, an efficient membrane composed of polysulfone and graphene oxide was developed and evaluated for its efficacy in chromium adsorption. Characterization of the synthesized membrane involved comprehensive analyses including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to assess its structural properties. Subsequently, the membrane's performance in removing chromium from aqueous solutions was scrutinized, considering key operational parameters.

The side reactions accompanying the charging and discharging process, as well as the difficulty in decomposing the discharge product lithium peroxide, have been important issues in the research field of lithium-oxygen batteries for a long time. Here, single atom Ta supported by CoO hollow sphere was designed and synthesized as a cathode catalyst. The single atom Ta forms an electron transport channel through the Ta-O-Co structure to stabilize octahedral Co sites, forming strong adsorption with reaction intermediates and ultimately forming a film-like lithium peroxide that is highly dispersed.

Alternative oxidase (AOX) regulates the level of reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide (NO) in plants. While under normoxic conditions it alleviates NO formation, there are several indications that in the conditions of low oxygen such as during seed germination before radicle protrusion, in meristematic stem cells, and in flooded roots AOX can be involved in the production of NO from nitrite. Whereas the first reports considered this role as indirect, more evidence is accumulated that AOX can act as a nitrite: NO reductase.
